Yikes! The Polar Express has arrived. Tonight, 28 degrees, felt like 9.
This morning I put hay in the front paddock and hay nets behind the grooming room so the boys could get out of the wind.
Out to the pasture....but of course!
Needless to say, it was a good day to hang out by the fire.
Around 1:30 Ariana and Finn came up to work on some legacy books they got us for Christmas. They heard lots of stories and Finn took a good look at Grampa's yearbook from 1961.
Ariana started working on a scrapbook of photos from her first trip in 2025. She is definately the busiest traveler in our family.
Chores at 5. Earlier we had a snow squall and it looked like a blizzard. Too bad I did not get any pictures. You could not see the barns from the house.
It was ugly out there.
The barn temperature was around 28.
Meanwhile back in the house...Seymour was taking advantage of the fire,.
He ended up snuggling next to Finn and did not move for a good hour.
We decided to go down to 58 Main for dinner (Grampa's treat) with Ariana, Finn, Jenny and Scott. No cooking tonight sounded good. (Cooper was still at Bristol skiing). We had wings, wraps, ribs and a burger. All of it was very good with a big side of chatter. A little bon voyage before Ariana leaves tomorrow.
Back home by 8 and ready to head back out to the fire.
Night all.

It was sunny but chilly here too. Thank goodness my gals can avoid the winds. When I lived in Kenosha there where no windbreaks, went in and out of the barn.
We are in for a cold week.
Looks like you had fun with your company.
It was -3 this morning. We will reach 13 by afternoon, or so it says. You had plenty of good company over the holidays.
23*F here last night and blowing a COLD hoolie, as the Brits say. We has rain, wind, and a brief bit of snow in the late afternoon and may have snow late Monday following a day of "wintery mix". Of course, we got groceries yesterday! I didn't live in suburban Chicago as a teen for nothing, including "The Big Snow" when we got 27" of snow in less than 24 hours, 1/22/67. :-)
It's always a treat to see your crew and the critters. Buddy and Rebel are beautiful.
Hugs!
You mentioned legacy books. Have you checked https://piccadillyinc.com/product-category/family-kids/? They have books that you fill in the answers to get to know your family. Not sure if you are interested in this but thought I would mention it.
