The Rebel Saga Continues....

Almost 80 degrees today.  It was pretty foggy this morning.

When I got out to the barn, Rebel seemed slightly improved.

Once again I iced him.  It is such a slick system and the wrap stays on him even if he moves around.
When finished, I put a quilt on him covered with the fake sheepskin trailer wraps that I made decades ago.

I did call the vet this morning and can't get an appointment until the 13th.  If there is an emergency, they will come for big bucks, but right now they have an awful lot of lameness cases in front of me.  They are down two vets and one is on vacation.  Maybe they will have a cancellation.  Andrea said that by then I might not need them.  That would make my day!
I checked on him before going to Bobby's for bridge and the wrap was still in place.  Today my partner was Terry C. and we cleaned house as she got so many spectacular hands.  We had veggies and hummus while we were playing and ended with a peach dessert.  Spent a lot of time talking about education before we left...all of us were educators and Terry has been a principal and superintendent of schools in Lockport.  Between us we have had decades of experience and so many ideas.

I did not get home until 5.  Jenny came up to help Gary rake up ten million black walnuts...
that are now in piles waiting to be moved over to our compost pile on the other side of the property.  That will involve at least 10 trips with a big wheelbarrow.  There is no way we can mow until they are all removed.
Check out the improvement in these videos of Rebel walking in for dinner.

I was out there by 6:45 icing him.  No halter...no lead...  He just stands there while I set it up and continues eating his hay.
I try to leave it on for 30 minutes and sit in a chair looking out this door while I listen to Rachel Maddow's pod casts.  It makes the time pass quickly.

Little Wonder had dinner but still wants more....

Night all.

  1. Rebel looks a lot better. Let's hope no vet is required. Are black walnuts edible?

  3. Charlotte....Rebel was not too bad this morning and he was iced. Alice came for Spa Day, so I soaked his foot in epsom salts, let him go bare footed for awhile, then put on a new boot (icthammol inside). I will post a video of him walking out of the grooming room so you can see that he is on the upswing.
