Morgan Manning House on the 4th!

We had a short break from the heat wave last night.  The windows were open and by this morning the house had cooled down.
Of course we were blasted again and now all the fans are on.

At 9:45 I arrived at the Morgan Manning House for their annual
4th of July Celebration.
At 10, several of the local officials were asked to march in the Children's Parade.

Susan and Ella led us around the block.

Dan Hawkins was the MC and welcomed everyone.
A huge crowd had gathered for the festivities,
which started with the Community Chorus directed by Liz Banner.
Anyone could participate, any age....you just had to show up for two one hour practices.

The Community Band was up next.  There must have been over 75 members,
directed by Shawn Halquist.  Once again, you could be of any age and it was really nice to see parents AND their children participating along with
several of the music teachers.

The last group to perform was the Brockport Big Band
and they were superb as usual!

Topper was there....taking
 pictures of me taking pictures
of him.
It takes a lot of volunteers to pull off this very special event.

Gary helped set things up and then tore it all down.
Spent a couple hours chatting with Doug G., who stopped by the farm on
his way home from a gig, then thought about what we could have for dinner.
I've been in no mood to cook.
Looked in the frig and decided to make a veggie stir fry using everything I could find.
Onions, celery, carrots, peppers, snow peas and asparagus.
Before I really got into it, I put the dogs in their pool to cool them off.
Scott had called and said he had a load of wood chips for the barn so he delivered them before we ate.
 I wheeled in many loads

and then went in to put everything together.
Here's what the dogs had....I always feed them first.
Two snow peas and a carrot on 1/3 of a cup of kibble with a tablespoon of rice.
They loved it.
 This is what we had.

 And we loved it.
 Night all.
