Early to Rise....

We were up at 4:45 this morning as Jenny was picking up Gary at 5.
He had to be signed in for his knee surgery by 6am.
Of course I could not fall back to sleep, and went out to do chores earlier
than usual as I was going to pick him up.
We had our first snow.

I just fed the horses and turned them out so I could change my clothes and leave.

On my way into Linden Oaks the sun made a brief appearance.

The traffic slowed me down a bit, but I finally got to the discharge area where
Gary and Jenny were waiting for me.
When we got back to the farm I got Gary settled and finished chores....

by then it was very windy....

Next, I stopped at the Rec Center to drop off a couple of scrap books.
The knitters were busy

and I dropped in to listen to the chorus.

They sounded great and have many holiday performances scheduled.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, it was time to use up some apples
and I made a rustic tart....again.

Gary went to bed around 12:45 and slept until 4:30.
Kept his knee up and iced off and on.
It was really snowing for awhile.

I started a fire and once the tart was out of the oven I crashed.

It took everything I had to get  up and make dinner.
And here it is.
A stir fry that included everything but the kitchen sink.

Organic chicken thighs, onions, celery, red peppers, carrots and snow peas.
At the end I thickened it with a mild sweet and sour sauce (homemade)
and added some sesame seeds and a green onion garnish. The only thing missing was cashews....
As usual, I always have a banana on the side.

Right now Gary is in the kitchen and thinks he is going to do the dishes.
Too much too fast.  He needs to use a crutch and cut out the macho crapola!
Hopefully, if he does not go crazy and do more than he should, this will get rid of
his gimpyness.  Once he is comfortable, he will start going to Agape with me.
Now, it's back to the fire and my book.
Night all.

  1. Can’t believe it snowed! Hope Gary decides to rest and heal properly. Sounds like you could use a good nights sleep 😴

  2. Wishing a speedy recovery for Gary. My husband has had both knees replaced but sure didn't look as chipper as Gary on the first day! That's great, but make him rest. Happy holidays to you both.

    1. Marcy, Gary had two medial miniscus tears on one knee. He did not have a knee replacement. 5 years ago I had a knee replacement!
