Time Out For Heart Bombing!

While I was taking pictures of the sunrise....

Sara and Tim were driving back to Kentucky with a sheep in the back of their car.  I am going to call him Burrrrdock.  She sent me a picture from her phone, and for some reason I can't post it.

 Chores as usual.

The sun was gorgeous and able to melt more snow, but it was still pretty crispy.

Something new today.
Do you know what "Heart Bombing" means? It must be a peaceful activity, as it was recommended at a Landmark Society Conference last spring. Gary and I participated in this event at noon today down at 60 Clinton Street. Many folks showed up with signs that were put on the building indicating their interest in having it restored (it's on the historical registry and needs a lot of help). The Village Board, School Board and the Town Board all need to sign off on granting a tax abatement, and then the person who has put a purchase offer on the property will invest (a fortune) in it, bringing it back to what it used to be. It's right on the bank of the Erie Canal and would totally enrich this part of the village. The only problem is....so far the Town has not signed off on it. There has been a big push within the community to try and convince them that this is a very worthwhile project that can have a huge impact on not only our village, but the town. Two newspapers were covering the story today and it will be interesting to see what they have to say. Fortunately, there is a large group of people (within our Town/Village) that is willing to volunteer in many different ways to constantly bring improvement to this area, and it has nothing to do with politics...they really care.

Below is a picture of our Mayor.  She and her board have made a lot of progress since taking office.  It is very refreshing to have a group of people willing to work together for their constituents...they really are supportive of the community.
Interestingly enough, the usual suspects participate in things that matter to all of us.

Gary worked for several years with the Brockport Development Corporation to facilitate the sale of this historical property, and now the current board is so close to making this happen. We just need to have the Town understand how much this restoration means to the community.  It will benefit all of us in the long run.
Afterward, we hooked up with Ann and Sally and went to Java for....a Greek Pannini!

My favorite sandwich of all time.

Relaxed this afternoon, trying to stay awake long enough to watch another episode of "Life."

It was so light out, I did not head out for chores until 5:45.
Tucked the girls in and got back in the house for some leftovers.
A new salad and the rest of the lasagna.
So much for today.
Night all.

PS
Becoming an active member of your community is good.
Give back....

  3. Where on earth did heart bombing come from?
Sounds like 'Power to the People' to me!
Good luck to all involved with the 60 Clinton St campaign, it looks like a worthwhile cause. If there's a buyer waiting to redevelop it, what on earth is stopping the town council from signing off?

  4. Heart bombing is a great idea. Never heard of it before. I think it's so important to save historical buildings and hope the town does what it needs to.

There's gotta be a way to get that picture downloaded. I'd love to see him in the back of the car. Did you try emailing it to yourself and then grabbing it from photos in the computer. I do that sometimes.
