After chores, Lorrie worked with Moon and I was pleasantly surprised to see the return of the barn painting contractor.
It took him less than half an hour to repaint a couple of areas and I was left with some paint to slap on the posts under the shed roof. While he was working, the horses had to be locked in the pasture. By the time I could let them back out Berlin was soaked with sweat, so all three went into the grooming room and I filled a bucket with peppermint wash to cool them down.
Of course they all rolled as soon as they went out.
Gary and Ariana went down to the Bookstore for some reading material.
Around 12:30 my friend Judy came up for some rhubarb and garlic....
Her daughter and granddaughters were visiting from Florida.
When they left I picked some flowers for the kitchen.
We are so full of lilies!!!!!
Instead of going swimming, Ariana went into the living room and read her new book while I reclined in the kitchen with mine. (The Land of Mango Sunsets)
Eventually I got up and made some potato salad for dinner.
Potatoes, onions, celery, red peppers, frozen peas, 2 hard boiled eggs, grated carrot, six chopped spicy pickle chips, sea salt, fresh ground pepper and celery salt. I always start by tossing my potatoes with a couple tablespoons of Italian Dressing (cuts down on the mayo). Dressed it with mayo, sour cream and mustard. Threw on a little fresh dill.
Gary is really into his garlic harvesting mode.
I think he has 1200-1400 plants this year and they really produced.
It's "German White" and he sells the big stuff for seed stock.
The smaller heads go for table stock, which is perfect for eating.
Evening chores a little late as I was finishing up dinner prep.
I have never seen so many gigunda daylilies on our property.
The clematis is growing up right in the middle of the plants.
It's a jungle out there!
Once again Gary had grill duty...which he now loves.
We are eating these peas everyday. There are still tons out in the garden.
Loved this meal.
Night all.
I'm glad the barn painter came back, it's good to hear.
