THIS COLD HAS TURNED ME INTO A DRAG....BORING!!!!

We were in the high 20s again.  There was a lot of frost in the pastures.

By the time I finished chores, the horses came into the front paddock for hay, and the sun was out.

Of course the entire crew kept me company.

I took a quick shower and drove down to our chorus rehearsal.  The first thing we had to do was try on tuxedo shirts to make sure they fit.  We wear black and white for our performances and we are finally going to match and look more formal.  Once that was done, we spent the entire time on the Gershwin Medley that we will perform with the Kendall Chorus on November 19th.  I decided to try and sing today, but my voice was more like that of a tenor.

I took Gary out for lunch, as when I switched purses I found $60!  The least I could do.

Mid afternoon I went to the bank and hunted down a new telephone.  Last year I thought I was being smart and got one that was not a remote...hated it!  And besides, it pooped out in under a year.  Hopefully I can get through all the directions to set it up properly.  What a pain.

Got home around 3:30 and started on dinner.  In the mood for more of that bratwurst and sauerkraut.

First I put some bacon and onions in a heavy pan....

added an apple (cut up)....

Threw on 16 ounces of sauerkraut that I had boiled and rinsed.  Added some cider vinegar, brown sugar, celery salt and fresh ground pepper....mixed it all up....

Topped it with four bratwrust that I had par boiled...and put it in the oven (350 til sausage and kraut browned...maybe 40 minutes).

During that time I went out and did evening chores.  The ponies followed me when I went out to pick one of the pastures...it was close to dark by the time I put them in for the night.

My one gigantic mum plant has continued to survive the cold...so I picked more flowers for the kitchen table.

Our comfort food for tonight.... Pumpernickel bread with jam....

Bratwurst with bacon, onions, sauerkraut and apples....

I had no noodles, and had to make rings with butter, parsley and fresh ground pepper.

Not too much excitement around here again!!!!

I am starting to get a serious case of cabin fever.
Night all.

Not that cold here and honestly hope it holds off but they are whispering "snow" for Friday.

  2. Lori, you do more when you're dragging than most people do when they feel great. Rest up.

  3. That is one tough Mum!!

The most hairy dogs wearing coats. My hairless dogs would love you. They just tough it out!

I think that is so cute that the ponies followed you around. Kind of like puppies.

I got in the dumps a little when it first got cold here. Just missing summer I guess, but now it's great. Things are mild here so I have no problem dealing with it so far.

  4. I'm going to try that recipe-- it looks delicious and perfect for an autumn dinner. I won't complain about our cold nights since we're not in the 20's yet. The light at the end of the day during this time of year is really beautiful. I love those photos you took.

  8. I doubt very much that you are dull. Count your blessings for having cold weather. Our weather is way too warm for November. It's going to mess up all the plants.
Love the bratwurst dish. Apples and sausage are a great combination.
