It's All About The Bass

Another very nice day.  We are now down 51 inches of snow compared to last year.  Bazaar...

On my kitchen table.

Everything is drying out and now we are supposed to get more rain....turning to snow.

I had some leftover stock from the cauliflower I made the other day, added a little chicken stock, veggies and broken up lasagna noodles... bam!  Soup for lunch.

Sat still for about half an hour, enjoying the sunshine.

At 1:30 my uke friend....Darryl, came over with his amp and bass guitar to work with me.  We ended up taking turns....switching my baritone uke and the bass baritone uke for about 2 1/2 hours.  It was fun to try and play many songs together.

He taught me a lot about blues chords and I want to learn some new stuff.

The song we played the best was "I'm Yours."  Wish I recorded it.

He left a little before 4 and by then the sunshine was at it's best.

I started on dinner, then went out for chores.

Mashed potatoes, spinach salad with walnuts, apples and pears....chicken (baked, topped with honey mustard) and shallots.  So good.

Grgas Selected For NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum

INDIANAPOLIS – Illinois State soccer goalkeeper Daniela Grgas has been selected as one of two representatives from Missouri Valley Conference member schools to participate in the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum to be held April 13-16 in Baltimore, Maryland.

Each NCAA Division I, II and III conference office select student-athletes from among active member schools and an administrator from the conference office to be representatives at the forum. Grgas will be joined by Bradley men's track student-athlete Rodrigo Alvarez Gonzalez in Baltimore to represent the MVC.

"I am so honored to be chosen to attend the NCAA Division I Student-Athlete Leadership Forum," Grgas said.  "This is such an amazing opportunity to collaborate and learn with student-athletes, administrators, and professionals from all around the country. This event will cultivate my growth as a person, student-athlete, and leader and I am so grateful to represent the Missouri Valley Conference and Illinois State University."

Student-athletes selected to attend the forum return to campus with invaluable leadership skills, a refined understanding of the relationship among personal values, core beliefs and behavioral styles, and the support of a close personal network of like-minded peers to provide continued connection and dialogue after the program concludes. After four days on-site, participants return to campus or conference offices feeling rejuvenated, connected and confident.

"Congratulations to Dani on being selected to represent the Missouri Valley Conference and Illinois State at the prestigious NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum in April," ISU Director of Athletics Kyle Brennan said. "As our ISU Student-Athlete Advisory Council President she has served as a voice and leader for our student-athletes and has helped guide initiatives to make our department better. She is a great example of what it means to be a collegiate student-athlete, and we are proud that she was selected to represent us and the conference among her peers in Baltimore."

At the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum, participants are assigned to a "color team" with about 30 other attendees, and within those frequent color team sessions, they work in an open environment with trained facilitators to engage in discussions regarding leadership and its many components. They build a family of team members that encourages vulnerability, challenges one another with diverse perspectives, and provides unconditional support during and after the program.

In addition to impactful color team sessions, participants feel the rewards of a community service project, learn about the inner workings of the NCAA, and hear from keynote speakers who share powerful stories and teachings. One of the most rewarding aspects of the program is the participants' ability to learn and grow alongside newly forged connections who often remain valuable for decades to come. 

The NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum, created in 1997, has served as a life-changing experience for more than 5,000 student-athletes who have grown personally and professionally as a result of their attendance.
