Of course I woke up very early as I wanted to be ready to leave the house by 7. Changed the sheets, fed the dog and cats, took a shower and was ready to go. It was raining and stayed in the high 60s. Jenny was on farm duty and took care of morning chores.
Even tho I had to be there by 7:45, they did not take me in to prepare for the procedure until almost 9:30.
I was given a great deal of attention by nurses, a PA, anesthesiologist, Doctor and the Pace Maker dude. So many wires were put on me. They answered every question I could think of. I was back in recovery around 11:30, had an X-ray at 1:30, made sure the pacemaker was working right and released at 2:20. Got back to the farm around 3 and Jenny was busy in the kitchen. Aside from a dull ache, felt very alert and called many of my friends who had been communicating with Jenny. Scott stopped up and before leaving they went out and brushed the ponies. I am so grateful to be through with this.
Little Wonder was pouting because I didn't let him get up on my lap.
They sent me home with a sling that I need to wear when I sleep so I don't accidentally put my left hand above my shoulder. Will be wearing it to the barn too....for 6 weeks. I can drive in 3 days.
Gary and I went out to the barn and fed the horses. No lifting for me.
Jenny picked some tulips for our kitchen table. Such a thoughtful kid!
She also made us corn chowder for dinner.
Night all.
As always glad to read your posts and sounds as if all went well. Lisa
ReplyDeleteSo good to know all went well for you. The worrying is enough to deal with so it’s good Jenny, Scott and Gary are right there beside you helping and making you behave. I am glad this is over now for you Lori and best wishes for continued good health. Kathy
ReplyDeleteHurrah! Six weeks will fly by for you. I know you are relieved and happy to be home among your crew.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it went as expected. My husband has had a pacemaker for years. He doesn’t even notice it! Wishing you a speedy recovery and life as usual.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad it all went well. I see a red plastic band similar to the one they give me, with allergies listed, I had to laugh, the last time, it had " Multiple" . Lori, wear the sling, looks way better than the white cotton ones, quite smart!!! I'm sure you will notice a huge improvement every day. Heaps of love from down south.
ReplyDeleteGlad this is behind you and you are doing well.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for being so supportive. I totally plan to take it slow, but will continue to go to the barn with the help of Gary or Jenny. Wearing the sling does not bother me at all and I promise not to do any mowing for at least 2 weeks. Those of you who are responding under anonymous....it would be great to get contact information so I can communicate with you.
ReplyDeleteAwesome. My friend who is in her 80's and my mom just recently had pacemakers put in and they said the result was great.
ReplyDeleteI hope this will happen for you too!
Glad everything went well!
