Today Gary and Randy took a road-trip to Jamestown to buy Korv, sil, ham loaf, braided danishes (almond, cherry), Cardamon rolls, Skorpors, cookies and Limpa Rye bread. And as a special bonus (after going out for lunch at The Pub in Jamestown) they stopped at Johnny's Hots and brought home a dozen hot dogs with everything. They were put in an airtight cooler and were still warm 2 1/2 hours later!
Meanwhile back at the ranch.....things were pretty normal. About 5 minutes of sunshine, then back to grey and cold. In the high 20s most of the day.
I put together another antipasto as I had some leftover ingredients.
Randy arrived at 10am and they were off for a 2 1/2 hour ride.
I ran a couple errands and started a fire when I got home
Caught up with a couple friends on the phone and sat by the stove much of the afternoon. Gary got back to the farm a little after 4:30.....loaded with goodies.
I could not wait to eat a couple of Johnny's finest.
Made up a basket for Jenny with hot dogs and samples of the other baked goods along with a bowl of antipasto.
Tonight we are going to Cooper's Christmas Concert and I will finish this post off with some music.
This year 11th and 12th graders (only) participated in the concert. Props to Coop for sticking with his trumpet!
Night all.
Looks like a great day. We are in for a snow storm here I hope.
ReplyDeleteI was invited to a concert last week but declined. Our region is so full of patients right now that there is no room in any hospital. I decided not to take a chance with a crowd.
Love your fire. I sort of wish we had a fireplace.
Did they get the pink stripe cookies? My husband's family migrated away from Jamestown and he says that when traveling south for Christmas there was never enough room in the car for luggage. It was all goodies from Ecklof's and Peterson's. Also Webb's in Mayville. Even now, if someone comes home they have a list of places to eat. Its like food tourism. Pizza from here and fish fry from there. And of course a trip to Johnny's. You can bring home jars of the sauce, but no one mangles a hot dog as well as Johnny's.
ReplyDeleteSmartAlex. No Pink stripe cookies. Got them the last time and they were not nearly as good as some of the other stuff. We have never picked up anything from Webb's. Have patronized the Pub since it opened....just don't get to Jamestown that often. You are so right about Johnny's hots.
ReplyDeleteVal Ewing. At the concert, everyone had to wear a mask and there was room to sit away from each other since it was only 11th and 12th graders (the 9th and 10th performed the night before). When they play together, ever seat is filled.
