The Volunteer of the Year!

Finally....

Forget that!  Beautiful sunrise at 7

and a torrential downpour by 7:45.

I spent the entire afternoon on my computer working on political stuff.
Then, at 6pm Gary and I went down to the college for what he thought was an event for volunteers....
and I was the one being recognized.  Jamie B. called me some time ago and asked if I could
figure out a way to get him there.  He went along with it.
They had all kinds of appetizers and drinks...

At 6:45 they started the program.
Mike Andriatch., Vice President, Advancement
President, Brockport Foundation
had a few words to say....
He had spoken for a couple of minutes before Gary realized that he was the person
being honored for the Jeanette D'Agostino Banker
Volunteer of the Year Award.
 A total surprise!

Even tho Jenny and Scott were there, he did not catch on until after
Mike spoke.  He just thought they were there for me.
This was a very special evening and Gary was deserving for all he has done in our community.
A real honor and he was humbled by it.
Here is what Mike said.

As if that was not enough, in honor of Gary they presented a $1,000 Volunteer of the Year
Scholarship Award to Bayli Schlierf, a senior at SUNY Brockport.
Pretty amazing!
Mike, Bayli, Gary and President Dr. Heidi Macpherson
Thanks to all who made this happen!
Night all.

  1. I have tears!!!!! What a wonderful honour, Gary, so deserved, and a surprise that was so well arranged. Great evening, and Lori,I know how hard it can be to arrange a surprise and keep it all so quiet. Congrats and so many best wishes to you all.

  2. Dear Lori, what a lovely, tender story this is. Your husband truly must be a humble man. So proud of you and so humble about himself. Thank you for sharing the intro speech. Peace.
