It was cold enough for Little Wonder and Phoebe to wear their fleece jackets out to the barn.
Most of the snow was gone so the girls were able to get some grass in their bellies.
At 10:15 Gary and I headed into Rochester.
I am not playing my guitar (A Guild Mark III that I bought at the Syracuse University Book Store back in the 60s) and have decided to trade it in on another Uke or 2.
Seeing that Bernunzios is my new favorite music store...that is where I want to do business.
The Uke I have now is my first and I bought it cold turkey, not even knowing how to play it.
It's been very good to me.
Today (one year later) I tried out a Cordoba and could not believe the difference. It's so easy to play and the tone is "crisper." I'm thinking about it and will go back in Friday if I decide it's the right thing for me to do. I need to have buttons put on it so I can attach a strap...and will also need a soft case to protect it. At the moment I am leaning toward it.
At 11:30 we picked up Jenny at her office and went over to Swan Market for lunch.
I've taken you there before when they had a 92 year old musician playing and we sang German songs. What a classic place. You have to sit at tables with strangers and it's a great opportunity to meet people.
We all ordered the same thing. Schnitzel with mushroom gravy, noodles and red cabbage.
Delicious! While we were eating Jenny said she wished Sabine was here. She was an exchange student from Germany and lived with us for a year back in 86-87.
There is no way we can ever leave without buying some knockwurst and smoked bratwurst.
I even went for the red cabbage so we can have a great meal at the farm when we
get sick of turkey.
When we left it was very grey....again.
I started getting ready for Thanksgiving late afternoon.
Set the table
and made cranberry/orange relish (a huge batch as I love it on sandwiches and with leftovers).
We had no desire for a regular dinner, so I thawed out some corn chowder.
Just before dark Gary cut down 5 of our brussels sprout plants and presented me with
this! He cut and washed everything!!!!
It's enough for an army and we will share them.
5 more plants are left in the garden.
Now it's time to get out by the fire.
Tomorrow I will make the turkey, stuffing, gravy, acorn squash, roasted brussels sprouts, cranberry orange relish and will heat up some rolls that Carina made.
Jenny is in charge of mashed potatoes, salad and pies.
My friend Madonna is joining us and will bring an appetizer.
Such a feast.
Night all.
Love the pups in their jackets. That restaurant looks wonderful. I'm sure my grandparents would have loved it since they were from Germany. Looks like your Thanksgiving dinner is going to be delicious. Have a great day. Hope Santa leaves that use you like under the tree this year...
ReplyDeleteBrussels sprouts are Tim's fav!
ReplyDeleteI love roasted brussels sprouts. Brett not so much -- so I would gorge myself on them if I came to your house since I rarely have them.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving
ReplyDeleteLily & Edward
Ooh, a new ukulele! Are you going to get another baritone? Happy Thanksgiving to you all from sunny California.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving! It looks like you were very busy.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the snow melted. We had a small chance for snow here, but alas, none came.
