Summer Serenades Part I

A beautiful morning.
Not too hot.  Not too muggy.
After chores I had leftover strawberry shortcake for breakfast...could not resist.

Around 11:15 I went down to Oak Orchard to pick up my new glasses...which are now perfect.  After that I kidnapped Sandy of the Manatee at the Welcome Center.  Hatch was on deck.

Our first stop was Java, where we had lunch.
You already know what I had...the Greek Panini.
Sandy had Hungarian Mushroom soup and a wrap (apples, walnuts greens and blue cheese).
We must have talked for two hours (she has the best ideas for art projects!!!!) and then went to Wegmans so she could stock up on groceries before they leave Brockport.  When we got back to the Manatee, Gary had just finished hanging a banner for Summer Serenades and was talking to Jeff.
Hatch had spent the afternoon down below in the air conditioning.

Did not do anything productive when I got home and went out to do chores a little after 6:30.

Tucked the girls in and took more shots of the clematis blossoms.  Last year they were with us until the beginning of November.

Phoebe and Gucci had helped me with chores and were ready to go back in the house.

Did not get down to the Canal until 7:15, and started taking pictures.
Don Newcombe's band was kicking off the season for Summer Serenades.
The Manatee was parked just to the left.

The usual suspects were in attendance.  Probably around 150 of them....not bad for the first night.

The man in the sunglasses (sitting down) is Doug Hickerson, who wrote the article about me.  His wife, Dianne (to his left), took the photos.  I could not wait to tell him that the people I spoke of during the interview (who we met in 2007 when they were docked at the Welcome Center) were back in town.  7 years later and they showed up a couple of days after the story came out.  Ironic.

Gary, Jacquie and Terry did a lot of work in preparation for this series.  And don't forget, starting in July there will also be programs at 1pm on Sundays.

This is Ryan Brodessor.  He has played in many bands and is a great musician (who has made many guitars from scratch and repaired mine last year).

I ended up sitting in the boat with Jeff and Sandy.

A couple of my friends came on board to meet them and got the tour.

It was almost dark when we left.  Hatch decided to come up and say goodbye.

Perfect conditions and so peaceful.
Night all.
