Work....work...work
Just because I wanted to do chores early, I did not wake up until 7:30. Fed the ponies and barely got started on the stalls when I had to grab Phoebe and take her down to the vet. She slept all night without hacking, but started again this morning. Left the farm at 8:20 and as soon as we walked into the animal hospital she started sounding like she was near death. They immediately put us in a room when someone else arrived, so they wouldn't think it was kennel cough and their dog was getting exposed. Fortunately the vet was able to see exactly what I was talking about. Her lungs, heart and temperature were all fine, but her throat was swollen from all the coughing. She was given a cortisone shot and I was sent home with an antibiotic and a decongestant.
Doesn't she look whipped?
When I got back, started working in the indoor. Those d!!* pigeons make a mess and I used a putty knife and wisk broom to clean off the shelf on top of the kick boards. Lovely. As long as I let the girls go in and out whenever they want, those birds are going to go in with them. In the winter I close all the doors for a few days, then they fly out and probably go in Gary's barn.
It's all dragged and nice now.
Gary cut down a half dead maple tree and I want to turn the remains into a birdbath. I'll have to see if I can take some ideas away from Jill....Smudge's mom. (Do you know Smudge?)
Once again, the sky was something.
You would be very impressed with the way Gary's barn looks. He has put a great deal of time into getting it organized. Now he's working on gardens.
The one's in front of the indoor.
Pony's clematis had a second blossom on it today. How about that Tina?
Mowed the front paddock and around the pastures too. I'm mowed out.
There was a Harvest Festival being held down the road at the Farmer Museum, so I went there to see what was going on...took some photos.
Pony rides...
Instead of a sand box....a corn box. So much cleaner!
Hot dogs with everything....
Great music....
signs of fall...
a tour of the barn....
Don and Kathy were there selling tickets for the barn tour (tomorrow).
Jack and Louise made an appearance. After the apple pie contest was judged we went over and bought a piece for a buck. Very good.
I'm going to have to get me one of these bags.
The Museum boarders a very large cemetery....which you had to drive trough to exit.
All kinds of interesting subject matter.
This time, I did not whistle for the horses, so they just walked in when they saw me.
Jill will be here tomorrow morning. Looking forward to having her back....cool enough for some riding and the rings and trails are waiting. Hmmmm. I wonder what Abbe is going to do when she is left all alone? That has never happened before.
By the way, I sent an email to Jenny after chores and she responded with a photo. She and two friends drove down to New York yesterday....to see a Dave Matthews concert (it's going on right now). Livin' it up in Manhatten tonight.
Night all.

Then it was lawn mowing time. It looks so much better now that the garden is not full of weeds where there used to be garlic.
The Cosmos are over 5 feet tall.Gary cut down a half dead maple tree and I want to turn the remains into a birdbath. I'll have to see if I can take some ideas away from Jill....Smudge's mom. (Do you know Smudge?)

Did a little more yard work when I got home before chores.
I'm happy to say that Phoebe was doing much better by then. This time, I did not whistle for the horses, so they just walked in when they saw me.

I'm glad Phoebe is feeling better, and it looks like you had an enjoyable day!! Clouds and cold remained here all day...
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I washed up the 'piggy-puppy,' and my husband cleaned up all the mess--He did a great job--At least I have one 'good boy!' :-))
First of all, I am SO glad that Phoebe is doing better. And, I'm glad that she was able to demonstrate for the vet what was going on. It seems like the minute the vet shows up, they act perfectly healthy.
ReplyDeleteSecond, you are taunting me with those Cosmos. Not nice. :)
Thirdly, good luck with the barn tour. You can relax a bit after that, right?
It's so good to hear that Phoebe's on the mend.
ReplyDeleteThe indoor looks so nice.
Phoebe looks so much better...thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteSkoog Farm is all shined up for the barn tour Sunday...lookin good!
Love the stump and birdbath! So glad that Phoebe is doing better. I wonder if she just had an allergic reaction to something. The Harvest Festival looks like a lot of fun. I would love going on that barn tour.
ReplyDeleteYour place takes a lot of work. I don't see how you do it all unless, of course, you are "Superwoman."
ReplyDeletePhoebe sure did look whipped. So happy to see the last pictures where she's looking so much better.
ReplyDeleteYour farm look amazing. Love all of your photos.
What a fun festival . I'm very glad your little dog is doing much better.
ReplyDeleteWow, you get around (I know, I keep saying that) - I love seeing all your 'stuff'. Barn and pastures look GREAT - that tour is tomorrow? Glad to hear Phoebe is better. Hope you can take a break after the barn tour, mm?
ReplyDeletePoor Phoebe!! I'm glad she's feeling better. :)
ReplyDeleteYour place is gorgeous.
Corn box!! I would have loved a corn box! Heck I'm an adult now and I still love playing in corn lol.
