A SLOW BOAT TO CHINA

Daniela and Grampa went to yoga....Ariana and I did chores.

We were done in a little over an hour.  Much cooler this morning.
Around 11:30 the girls were picked up by their Mom's long time friend and Ariana's godmother, Laura and her two children.  Each summer they visit her mother for 5 or 6 weeks and then return to their home in Hong Kong.  Fortunately they were all in town at the same time and able to get together for an afternoon of lunch and fun.

A couple of weeks ago we met a man who sailed over from Norway and was making his way down the Erie Canal.  I gave you a tour of his boat and we took him out to lunch....it was father's day.  Anyway, he called and was about to return to Brockport with his wife, brother and sister-in-law and we wanted them to come to the farm for dinner.  I made some pickled beets....
and a delish potato salad.  The dressing was a combo of plain yogurt and mayo.
I spoke to our friend Jack earlier in the day and decided to go over to Apple Creek Farm to mow their lawn.
Left home about 2pm and the sky was quite amazing the whole way over.

The apples are still very small, and have a long way to go before they ripen.
The lawn had weeds growing in it that were 1-2 feet tall and was in desperate need.
The gardens were loaded with blossoms.

I called home to check in with Gary....still had to go to Wegmans,  and he confirmed we were having dinner guests from Norway.  I stopped at the Welcome Center to pick them up.
They went with me to Weggies and seemed pretty impressed.  When we got home, I did chores while Gary entertained.  Georg and Beiet wanted to come out to the barn with me.
Georg volunteered to pick the run-in....pretty exciting!

When I took a picture of them leaving the paddock, he was taking a picture of me.

Jill, your horse has been an absolute doll.  She talks to me every morning when I go through the paddock gate and comes when I call her.  What a sweet girl.

After chores I got dinner together.  Decided on cold cuts and salads...no time to cook anything.
Had a bonus tho...our friend Judy brought up a plate full of chocolate cake!
Ariana and Daniela set the table and were very sociable throughout dinner.  I love it when kids want to participate in conversation with adults.

Before it got dark, we loaded them up with onions, garlic, beets and dill.
Gary and the 2 guys went to get some diesel fuel and the rest of us headed straight back to the boat.  By then it was dark.
Ariana and Daniela were very interested in seeing it.
Live invited the girls to go below.

We chatted for awhile and then went back to the farm.
It was an outstanding evening.  So much fun to meet people from other parts of the world.  The girls just might hitch a ride down the canal apiece... We will pick them up at a dock along the way.

An amazing moon out there.
Night all.
