WE ARE ON A ROLL!

Another beautiful day.....alllllll day.
Chores as usual.  Dragged the indoor and started mowing the lawn.
At 9:30 King Mustafa was going to have a visitor.
He arrived at Skoog Farm a year ago...17 hand Hanovarian, owned by Barb (who I talk about all the time).  This year he is 24 years old and has been living the good life after retiring from the jumping circuit.  When he was at his last home, he was part of an Equestrian Team for a local college.  His visitor had the opportunity to ride him several years ago (when she was on the Team from the U of R) and discovered him again through my Journal (via a newsletter from his old barn....Huntington Meadows).
Elizabeth, known as Bits since she was 4, was very impressed with him back then, and enjoyed her visit.

All of the horses surrounded us when we went out to the pasture....very friendly.
We chatted for a couple of hours and then I went back to mowing.

We have flowers all over the place that we never planted.  Who knows where they came from?

It was a perfect day to hang the sheets out on the line.  Boy do they smell good when I make the bed.
This time I mowed the lawn and all around the lane and pastures.  The dandelions have come on strong.
In the way back we have some wild cherry trees.  The cherries are almost black and very small, but they taste great and come on early.  Can't wait.
The ponies followed me as I mowed, hoping to get fresh grass when it blew under the fence.

There was a lot to mow.

The yellow tulips have finally opened.

Yesterday Gary brought me flowers for mother's day....like we really needed more!
But they were different from those in our gardens and very beautiful.

While I got dinner ready, I was able to stay awake to watch the rest of the movie I missed last night (in a coma on the couch).  "The King's Speech" was terrific.
Dinner?  I diced three little leftover baked potatoes and fried them up with onions...heated up the leftover BBQued chicken, and made some fresh coleslaw.
Then I went out to do chores.  Gary made great progress with his painting project.
Meanwhile, out in the paddock, the ponies were waiting for their grain.

After they ate, I put them back out for a few more hours.  Barb will put them in around 8:30 when she comes to visit Mustafa.

Picked the pasture and went back in the house.

The next two shots are for Annette (Aspen Meadows) who asked if I BBQd the chicken in a fireplace (last night).  Below is the fireplace in the kitchen.
This is what it looks like on the outside of the house.  Maybe I need one of those outdoor kitchens.  Don't you think Brett and Gary could come up with something spectacular?
Tomorrow I MUST go on a bike ride.
Night all.  Dancing is coming up.

  7. Oh, I loved this post. The flowers are so gorgeous and I love your farm! It just looks so idyllic there. And that outdoor kitchen idea is awesome - this from a girl that is "allergic" to kitchens. I might want to learn to cook if I had an incredible fireplace like that! Wow!

  10. Beautiful flowers who cares where they come from. We only get weeds, you should see the sea of yellow dandelions we have. So nice that Bits got to visit him again. Old friends coming together is so nice for both. Love this weather, nice for a change. Great pictures as usual.
