YEP, THERE WAS MORE DRUMMING!

The kittens gave me nothing but trouble from the time I walked out the kitchen door this morning....
Instead of heading toward the barn, they ran around the side yard and made me chase them.  Sid climbed up the tree in the middle of our driveway.  It took awhile, but they finally were where they belonged.

It was a beautiful morning, and Barb was there to help me with chores.  I'm going to have to start calling her Saint Barbara.

After she left I went over to the tack/grooming room to organize the blankets.  Over the past 30 years I have collected so many...it's and embarassment.  Sheets...stable blankets...Rambos for the cold winter weather.

I went from one thing to another, and before I knew it, it was after 11 o'clock.

This morning we had five face cords of wood delivered.

Gary spent most of the day stacking it, and now it is all under the shed roof.

Barb came back a little before 1 so we could ride.  No saddle for King Mustafa!  They both prefer bareback...and he is 17 hands of big boy.

Berlin was very quiet today...we did not ride too long as the drummers were arriving by 2:30.

Do you see that drawing to the left of her face?  Berlin's mother (Marieke) is on the left and Hollander (Marieke's brother) is on the right.

I love this horse...what a sweet girl....

Did we have fun today or what?

We had three new drummers and made great progress...thanks to Jeff's ability to teach us in a way we can all comprehend what we are supposed to be doing.

Look at what that guy with the sunglasses is doing behind Joan's head.  If it isn't Doc Pierson up to his old tricks.

Not only do these drums sound great....they are beautiful.

So is the view from the east window.  We had the remains of the garden rototilled and now it is covered with grass seed.  It sure looks better.

One of our new participants, Chet F., is known as the "Breadman" in this area.  In the past ten years he has baked and given away more than SIXTEEN THOUSAND loaves of bread.  He does it as an act of kindness (and he happens to love baking bread).  In the past week he had four speaking engagements on the subject.  When he has driven by our farm, he has frequently dropped off a loaf or two.  When we are at the Farm Market he has shown up with a bag full and gives it all away.  He now has a blog called Bread Time Stories and More and there are newspaper articles written about him.  Chet is on the far right in the first group photo and is definitely a stand out in our community...not a bad drummer either!

He gave every single one of us a loaf to take home!

Phoebe and Gucci never took their eyes off us the entire time.

When everyone left I went out to get Pony's hay cubes ready.  Just after I got back in the house, Jack and Louise stopped in and we invited them to stay for a cup of squash/apple soup.

I went out to do evening chores first, and Barb was already setting up the grain.  Got things done in a hurry.

L'orange, Sidney and Seymour spent a few minutes together.

Then they continued to drive me nutts by messing around in the driveway.  They thought it was cute to have me chase them...again!  It's a good thing I caught them before they did something stupid!

A full day.

Night all.

  2. You have Doc Pierson drumming with you???!! I haven't seen or heard anything from him since the 80's. I thought he was living someplace warmer by now. And did he have any good jokes to tell? You always look like you're having so much fun. Except for the part where you have to chase down the kittens!! LOL! Have a great day!

  4. Love all the stuff in the barn. I can't wait to "clutter up" the chicken coop.

Some of those drums are really pieces of artwork.

Oh, kittens. They sure can be a handful when they want to be. The independence of cats!
