A HOT ONE...

Saturday! Gary and Barb helped with chores. We were done in a flash.

Then, King Mustafa was brought into the grooming room so Barb could work a little more on clipping.

I started mowing the lawn, and by 10:30 Gordon B. showed up to rototil the outdoor and indoor arenas. They are looking mint.
While he was doing the rings, I rode the lawn tractor out back and picked some wild cherries off the trees that are behind the pasture.
They are small...but delicious. They are my weakness.

Finished the lawn and went in for lunch....
Gary painted some of the white trim on the front of the barn....quite an improvement.
I, on the other hand, crashed in the kitchen...stayed out of the sun...and watched "Crazy Heart."
Carrie stopped to pick some spinach and we chatted for awhile. Then, it was time to grab a shower, make a salad, and go down to Margay and Ulpi's for a party.

It was a celebration! The village was not dissolved.
Many of those attending worked their butts off to make this happen.

The food was fantastic! Healthy! Lots! and yummy.

I've posted pictures of this home before. The yard is very deep and perfectly landscaped.

This is Margay....our hostess.

...and Ulpi, our host. Both are great cooks and know how to throw a party!

Beyond the gate is another amazing home that belongs to John and Tina (friends of ours). These two people know all about good taste! John had a remodeling business for many years and can build anything. What makes him so special, is that fact that he is also a very talented artist. He and Tina make quite a team.
Here is the view from Margay's kitchen window.
Who would not want to live here?

They have many pieces of Bill Stewart sculpture too.

It should be in Architectural Digest.

Getting back to the party...I took a stroll out in their back yard and through the front gardens.
Meticulous....

After partaking in a LOT of food, we left around 8:30. What a terrific gathering...great food, friends and conversation.

On the way home the sky was out of control again.... here goes.....

When we arrived the ponies were relaxing in the front paddock or in the run in.

Took the dogs out for a little run....

And took my last shot for the day.

Night all.

  1. I would pick all the cherries if I had something like that in my back yard! I showed my husband all the food at your gathering. I wish he could retire and we could move to a place like your village. I'd get involved in everything just to go to the potlucks to try all that great food! LOL

  3. That looks like a great party! The kind of party where you can't help but enjoy yourself, in spite of the really oppressive heat yesterday.

  4. I'm with Gayle on moving just for the potlucks! You always seem to have something going on with lots of great food. And you know I'd love to live in something like your friend's house.
