Hay Tomorrow

We started off in the high 40s and ended up in the high 70s.

No manure in the barn, so the boys must have spent the entire night outside.

After chores, I put on a mask and went up to the second floor of the barn to clean it up.  Fortunately, there is a hill that backs up to the big door and hay can be delivered that way.  I don't have any more room downstairs.

I put on a mask, grabbed my little shovel and loosened up all the pigeon crap that gets dumped directly under the middle of the barn ceiling, where there is a nice little ledge for them to sit on.  After that, I swept the entire second floor and bagged the debris.  Fortunately I have a couple of options for storing hay where the pigeons won't be able to get at it.  I love the  way it feels inside this space.

Little Wonder was looking very serious this morning.
Buddy's Mom came for a visit this afternoon and we went out to the barn to give the boys a few carrots.

This is her dog, who waited in the car listening to the radio.

Gary ran a couple errands, made a pot of sauce and had a meeting this afternoon.  While he took a nap I went down to Wegmans.  Chores before 7.

LW is keeping me company in his nice clean bed.

Night all.

Gazpacho! Ole!

In the 60s today.  The sunrise was beautiful.  Unfortunately I woke up at 5 and could not get back to sleep.

By the time I went out to the barn is was so bright.
The boys were in the pasture and I got most of the chores done before they came in for breakfast.

I wanted to make some gazpacho soup today and went out to pick some of our San Marazano tomatoes.  I swear....each one weighed a pound.
I did look at a bunch of recipes and then decided to do my own thing in whatever proportions.
Tomatoes, a stalk of celery, 1 pepper, a small onion, one clove of garlic and 3 small English cucumbers.  I did not have any old crusty bread, so I toasted a crust of bread and added it to the mix.  A little parsley, salt, pepper, a shot of red wine vinegar and finally a 1/4 cup of olive oil.  Put it all in a food processor and pureed it.  In the frig for several hours.

Had a great talk on the phone with one of my blogging friends who lives in Minnesota.  I don't get to have live conversations like this very often and it is always very special.  Usually, most communication is done through commenting.
It was bridge day at the library.  We had a great time and laughed so much.  All of us are in our 70s or 80s and decided we should go for a visit to memory care.  Ran an errand on the way home.  Chores before dinner.

Little Wonder did go out with me and waited for his dinner before we ate ours.

Why did I not make this soup when it was so hot this summer?  So refreshing.  I made some croutons out of leftover Tuscan bread, added chives and a little sour cream.  Very light.
It's chilly now.
Night all.

Where Are All the Photos?

Yet another beautiful day with sunshine and the temperature went up to 80 degrees.  For some reason I was not in a picture taking mood.  Chores as usual.  I had to get on my John Deere and hunted for Buddy's mask that got drenched in the rain last night.

Gary went out for a haircut and some coffee.  When he got home I ran some errands and bombed out on three of them as people were not at home.  Got in a good nap and then started making some peach jam.  Just letting it cook down until it's real thick and then will keep it in the frig.
Dinner was a replay.  Love having leftovers.
Chores at 7.
We must have gotten between one and two inches of rain last evening and our grass has gotten greener each day.

LW did not come out for chores again.  Instead, he watched the news with Gary.
Night all.

PS
Daniela had her first day of work yesterday at the University of Wisconsin.  She sure looks like a professional and will be a great addition to her department.
