The roofers got here by 8:30 to move the trailer and lift to the front paddock so they could start working on the other side of the horse barn. I turned the horses out and closed the gates so we did not have to worry about them.
Moving the truck and trailer was a piece of cake, even tho the ground by the gate was a muddy mess.
The lift took a little more effort. It weighs 14,000 pounds and the ground was too soft for the last 60 or 70 feet.
They brought 6 heavy mats so they could put them under the wheels and get better traction, moving the last two mats in front of the other 4 and there was no longer an opportunity to get stuck.
The way Jason handles this lift, you would think it was a Volkswagen.
He got through this gate....no problem. I was worried about the porch roof.
Once it dries out a little more we will get these tracks flattened.
I was outside from 7:30-10:30 and had nothing to eat or drink since last night. Around noon all of a sudden I felt very light headed and ended up fainting. Dehydrated? Low glucose? What was wrong with me? I immediately started drinking water and had some crackers....improved and wouldn't you know that we were having a rehearsal in the Studio at 1?
I played for about an hour and went back to the house to take it easy. Yikes! We have a gig on Friday!
Jason and Mike worked until 6 and got a lot done.
Tomorrow they will start putting on the metal....and it is supposed to rain.
The horses are used to the lift, so I let them go in the front paddock before evening chores.
They did not spook at all.
Tucked them in a little after 6.
Muddy as usual.
I did rest this afternoon and Sidney took over the bed when I got up to do chores.
Gary had dinner ready when Little Wonder and I got back to the house. Leftovers and toast.
Night all.
Gee Lori, that is scary about fainting. Better grab a granola bar before heading to the barn tomorrow morning. Take care of yourself.

You need to be like the Scots people. And have a hearty breakfast.Take it quietly tomorrow. Mats under the tyres, a great idea, like the planes that are the STOL ( Short Take Off and Landing) , also used in the far North of Canada, from memory, ones that fly to the South Pole, there bamboo mats are laid down so the skids do not freeze when they land. The roof will get done, hope the bad weather delays a bit.
ReplyDeleteNow you know, eat something and drink water before getting on with your day! That had to give you a scare, glad you are feeling better. That was some operation getting the lift in place.
