When I opened the door for Little Wonder to go outside this morning, the snow was so deep he turned around and came back into the kitchen. I went out at 7 and shoveled him a little path, but it was so deep and heavy I knew Gary was going to have to do a lot of snow blowing to get me to the barn.
As you can see, it was snowing like crazy.
By the time Gary made me a path and I finished shoveling, I finally fed the horses at 8:30. An hour late. Set up the hay nets under the shed roof....fortunately the snow was coming from the East and they were protected.
They stayed out for about an hour and a half while I finished chores and did more shoveling, then I set up their stalls with hay and water and put them back in.
Little Wonder is such a trooper. I'm sure he appreciated the temperature in the barn.....30 degrees.
You guessed it....our afternoon was like every other afternoon.
By 2 it had stopped snowing, so I let the ponies back outside. Gary had already done the driveway and the path in the paddock for the second time. We had over 18 inches of snow and in some places the wind had it up to 3 feet or more.
Karen arrived early for evening chores and shoveled a path to the indoor. Now it's snowing again...who knows what it will look like tomorrow.
Dinner was an instant replay.
Night all.
Wow that is a lot of snow.
ReplyDeleteI had thought for some years I would really like to live where there was snow in the winter, but when I see your photos and realise how hard it is to do normal everyday tasks, I am staying put. LW, you are the best trooper to be out there!!!
ReplyDeleteWe missed this snow once more. It went north and south of us.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are all okay and it isn't too bad!
Its hard to know how much we got. I measured 9 inches yesterday morning before the wind started moving everything and it continued to snow all day. Yesterday afternoon I was out for awhile while he plowed and I shoveled and when I went back inside I looked like I had been dusted with sugar! Lots of sugar!
ReplyDeleteSmartAlex....I am having problems leaving comments on your blog. In case you see this, I want you to know that I saw all the photos you posted showing the changes on your property over the past 10 years. What a stunning spot! All of your work has sure turned into a slice of heaven!
