45 days before the election.
Mary and I are incumbents....just finishing a four year term on a board that has been run by one
party for over 150 years. We are all for working together, but our opponents do not feel the same
way. Campaign season is going to be very interesting. We are fortunate to have support from people in all parties and hope to get re-elected. The hardest part of running is staying positive
while our opponents are making some pretty interesting statements about us as they go from door to door. Just in case they are reading this, they need to know that we have gotten several calls from
people they have visited and they were not happy with the messages they were given.
Anything goes between now and November 5th. No wonder people don't want to run for office!
Ironically, when it's all over, they say "it's just politics!"
It's a good thing Mary and I know who we are and we will not let them change us.
This morning, however, was no different from any other morning.
Berlin was waiting for me.
(Is this the farm version of a man cave?)
After chores I ran many errands. First I went to the Rec Center to pick up
a card so I could charge supplies for the Harvest Festival (tomorrow). Then I picked
up Susan at the Farmer's Museum so we could go shopping at Wegmans for the
supplies needed. (Like 5 dozen donuts, coffee and garbage bags). Dropped that
off and drove Down to Add Red to discuss an upcoming mailer that we have been working on.
Leaning up against the wall was a nice big map of our Town. I would love to have one
of these, it is 30"x30" and could come in handy.
After that, I went to the bank and back to the Farmer's Museum.
Had been gone so long, Gary came down to see if we needed help.
We will be performing there tomorrow afternoon.
It should be a good time.
And I can't forget about the KISS THE COW CONTEST!
Even if I lose, I want to kiss this boy!
He is adorable!
By late afternoon, Gary and I were putting signs together,
but not before I threw some apples out to the horses.
All those drops that I don't want to mow over.........
Gary wanted to go out for a fish fry at the Holley Falls Bar and Grill.
How could I refuse?
Here is the falls the restaurant was named after.
What a beautiful spot.
Home again, home again jiggly jig.....
Night all.
What a busy day, love the paddocks with grass, no snow, and horses all enjoying the sunshine.I am positive about your re-election. sometimes politics is all about bad-mouthing the others, and I am sure everyone knows your values and integrity.
ReplyDeleteAnother busy but productive day. It's a shame that people can't just run for office on their own merits instead of trying to bring the opposition down. It is politics but it doesn't have to be mean or underhanded. Good luck with your campaign and election.
ReplyDeleteAnd I would love to be there so I could "kiss the cow" he looks so sweet!
