This Morning

I'm making an early post in case we lose power.

It was very windy when the pups and I went out to the barn.

The horses were fed and put outside around 8am.

By 9:30 we heard thunder and there was some lightning...
Absolutely pouring by 9:45 so the ponies were put in their stalls
with big fat hay bags.

Little Wonder stuck it out with me, and got soaked going back to the house.
I put a shavings bag over my head.
To be continued later today if we have power.
We are still getting high wind warnings up to 75MPH,
that should start gusting later this afternoon.
Stay tuned.

Early Afternoon
The rain stopped and around 11:15 I put the horses back out as the sun
made an appearance and it was not so windy.

Around 1, it was very quiet and no wind.....
then it started to rain and the wind gusts started kicking in.
Back out to the barn to put Rebel and the girls back in their stalls.
Now the back pasture is flooded and the temperature is dropping.
When I got back to the house, Little Wonder and Phoebe went out for
a quick stretch but they were not impressed with the conditions.

Will there be more?????

Yes.
This afternoon I took a shower and did laundry in anticipation of no power.
Then I made some coleslaw for dinner.

I had chore duty tonight.  When I went out to the barn there were shingles all over the place.  By tomorrow there will be many more.

Fortunately, the inside of the barn was not too bad.
34 degrees and relatively quiet for all that was going on.
Rebel and his girls seemed ok with being in their stalls much of the day.
It's a good thing they are all huge so they can move around.

We are getting a little snow now and so far the highest gust in
Brockport was 52 MPH.  20 miles from here it was 69.
This is going to keep up until tomorrow afternoon.
 We had a picnic dinner.
Night all.

  1. Hope the power stays on, the rain eases, and everyone inside is snug and warm.

  2. Our weekend was quite wild and nasty but not as bad as it was just west or north of us. The rains came down and then the snow...leaving us with a rutted frozen slushy looking mess and drifts. Crazy, but it is quiet this morning even if it is subzero.

  3. We've had high winds and rain and snow too. Not as bad as you though. It's still gusting out there now. We did lose power for a while and the internet but the generator kicked in and did its job. Hope you have a mild sunny day tomorrow.
