Pot Luck

No new snow, but very cold this morning.

Both pups wore their red coats to the barn and lasted until I finished chores.

At 11 I headed down to the Community Center for our first pot luck lunch.
 The menu.....was a surprise.
It was vegetarian by fluke, and delicious.

I invited our friend Ron K. (do you recognize him from our monthly dinners?) to come and speak to us about the Hamlin Seniors.
They average 120 people at their monthly pot lucks and are constantly going on road trips, holding Euchre Tournaments, working on crafts and much more.  A couple of nights ago, 45 of them went into Rochester to see "Chicago."  They don't miss a trick.
He made an outstanding presentation and certainly motivated our group.
I did not get home until after 2 and the pups were ready for a stretch.
Gary spent much of the week working at the Smag's house so they were soloing today.

 I was sure I had a Town/Gown meeting at 3:30 and
what do you know?  It's next Monday, So
I was able to go back home and put together a dinner.

Have you ever had corn salad?
We had some friends connected to SUNY Brockport who lived in Paris and were here for teaching assignments off and on (over 30 years ago).  Francoise introduced us to this dish and I have been making it since that time.
Canned corn, diced Swiss cheese, cherry tomatoes, red or greens peppers (diced),
salt and fresh ground pepper topped with a Russian Dressing.
You should give it a try.
There was a little salad left over from the pot luck lunch so we finished that.
A small container of chili in the frighted gave me an idea.
Gary grilled hot dogs and we turned them into chili dogs....open faced.
A picnic.
Time to get out by the fire.
Night all.

  1. Just what hits the spot on a cold night, a picnic! Great idea.

  2. Looks so yummy inside and still very cold outdoors, I always wonder if the doggies get very cold paws and ever get frostbite? Or the cats too?
