My kind of day....all day.
I took my time doing chores
and got back to the house
in time to take a shower and drive over to a nearby Swap and Shop.
Could not find a rain sheet for Abbe.
Have I mentioned how unhappy I have been with Spectrum and Consumer Cellular?
We gave up cable and kept the internet (an additional $20) and landline. It's such a rip and they just love to take advantage of their loyal customers (over 25 years). We got used to having indoor antennas and no cable very quickly. Then, last week I got an email from Spectrum trying to pull us back in. All of a sudden cable tv was available for $21.99 instead of the $69 they were going to charge me. And to top it off, I could pick 10 cable channels...have the locals and music. Here's the catch. You have to be without their service for 30 days, then you can sign up again and get the deals. Suddenly, I could have all three services for $109.00...good for two years. I can't decide if I will go for it or not. Around here, no two people pay the same amount for the same service. It all depends on how good you are at negotiating.
As for Consumer Cellular....(for old people) we decided to look into it. On April 25th I made the move and for the past 10 days I have been trying to get things squared away. One thing after another! I had an old iPhone and wanted to keep it. Gary got a new flip phone. Well, his phone worked (it arrived by mail around the 30th) right away. My phone could get no service. Blah blah blah. I bet I spent over 6 hours with them on the phone during the past week, and ended up ordering me a flip phone...which I got yesterday. My Subaru has the ability for me to talk on the phone as long as my cell phone is in the car and on. Did I have to have an internet connection for it to work?
When I tried, it did not work. After my 200th call with Consumer Cellular I decided to go down to the car dealership where I got my car and this young man (Trevor) made my day! If I turned on BlueTooth in my flip phone and synced it Blue Tooth in my car it worked! He just deleted my iPhone connection and I we in business! This kid is an absolute pro when it comes to customer service and I am so grateful! So now I have an iPhone that is not being used and have to tell you that Gary and I might be the only two people on earth who do not (nor ever did) text, (but it is still available on our phones).
Our cell phone bill is less than half of what it was and now that everything is working we are happy with our decision. We are weird, right?
After all my running around, I was making dinner when I remembered that the
Kentucky Derby was about to begin. I really question this event.
Justify ran such a strong race he stayed in the front and crossed the line with no mud on his face. First of all, I am grateful that no horses got hurt (in spite of the conditions) and more importantly....he was not raced as a two year old. To me, overfacing any horse that has not finished growing for any activity is a real mistake.
I had chore duty tonight and it was still absolutely gorgeous.
When the girls see me, they come right in from the pasture.
Guess who rolled in the ditch!
Dinner was delicious.
Grilled pork, rice with peas and a big salad.
Night all.
PS
Another new blossom today.
I love watching horses race, but I shudder at the thought of how quickly they are pressed into doing what they do. I didn't watch the race.... we were on the road. I haven't kept up with who was racing. A few years ago we went to the track in Colorado. It was all fun and games until one race when the winning horse collapsed and died just after the finish line from an apparent heart attack. It made me so sad... so mad.
ReplyDeleteI sometimes wonder what charges for phone and TV will look like in the next 5-10 years. I dislike how they bundle everything... giving you services you don't even want at a better rate than what you do want, alone. It's crazy!
I happened to catch the race at the last minute. I know nothing about these horses but picked Justify. Probably the first horse I ever picked that won. I’m not crazy about horse racing and I was glad no one was hurt with those conditions. They do start them too young and I feel it’s not about the horses but all about money.
ReplyDeleteI think it’s great that you are getting reduced rates from the companies. I like the flip phones because they fit in a pocket better than the others. I have an I phone which I need because I do get texts from my kids and husband. It’s one of the older ones not like those giant new ones that look like a mini iPad.
