Another sunny day...things are starting to dry out, but somehow the gardens are still growing.
Gary is working on the front gardens...more to plant in front of the sign.
It's going to take awhile to distribute all that mulch.
Gordon came up early afternoon to rototill the rings. He has never done it when it has been this dry. The dust and dirt flying left his tractor totally covered with grit.
Some friends stopped in after lunch and I served them fresh strawberry shortcake.
Did not even think about taking pictures.
I went out to pick more strawberries after they left...
and will use the rest of the biscuits tomorrow.
One way or the other, we have been eating them every day.
On cereal, in yogurt......
This afternoon Gary had a board meeting in Hornell and I held down the fort.
Great progress has been made on the house behind the pasture. All the windows are in and I think they are working on the interior now.
I am totally amazed by the size of the cabbage.
It's going to be ready so much earlier than last summer.
And look at these sunflowers! They seeded themselves.
The outdoor arena is so level and fluffy now, it looks like a big sand box.
I had better get on my horse the next cool day.
The girls spent some time in the shade
by late afternoon as the temperature was up in the 80s.
Takin' it easy....
Night all.
Those strawberries look amazing! We could do with a decent rainfall here also!
ReplyDeleteI know all about that dust. Its one of the things that I hate about summer here in California; no rain from May to November so it is horribly dusty. We don't water the arena (conserving water) and the dust is just awful when we ride.
ReplyDeleteIf your evening was anything like ours you got some goooood rain. We got about two inches yesterday.
ReplyDeleteOver the weekend we had all the rain here that we'll need for a while.
ReplyDeleteI rode yesterday before the storm rolled through and cooled things off. It was miserable. And even more miserable today with all the humidity and 91 :-o. No riding today.
ReplyDeleteLoved the sunflowers. As for rain, I'll send you some, we've had rain almost every day or evening the last was nearly 2" of it.
