Another big freeze last night, but no snow.
The girls get extra hay when the weather starts to change like this.
They nibble on the grass, but it's fading.
Gary put the dogs back in the house before going to Java for coffee. They were with me for about half an hour (with their coats on) and were ready to go back in.
Fortunately there was no wind and the sun was brilliant.
At 1pm I arrived at A Different Path Gallery for the 1-3 jam session.
Today we had 5 guitars, a mandolin, a bass and a drummer.
Many of the songs they played were beyond me, but little by little I am catching on.
Got home just in time...
before Jen and the boys arrived at 3:30 to make Christmas cookies.
We were making two kinds....vordogs (Swedish) and cut outs.
Coop prepared the vordogs. They have to be made into
logs which need to be refrigerated before you slice and bake.
I was very impressed that they were able to hang in there.
I had gotten everything needed to make a gingerbread house. They assembled it and
ended up taking it home for the decorating part.
At 5 I went out to tuck the girls in.
Then I drove down to Ralph and Rosie's to pick up a pizza for dinner.
The kitchen was a disaster area so we ate in the dining room.
Instead of making a butter cream frosting, Jenny made an almond flavored glaze and it was not easy to work with.
All the cookies got the same treatment....RED AND GREEN SPRINKLES!
The boys had a great time and it was worth it.
We kept these...Jenny took home a couple dozen that were decorated
and a gazillion that still needed some color. Instead of the glaze, she will switch to a
butter cream frosting that is much easier to use.
Seeing that I am out of gas, the vordogs will be baked tomorrow.
Night all.
Sounds like a lovely day! Those cookies look good...Merry Christmas Lori and family.
ReplyDeleteReindeer, gingerbread men and trees. wonderful, and to see the young men, as they are by now, do all that, wonderful all over again. Looks like you might have snow very soon.
