It took me awhile to get rolling this morning. Karen feeds the girls and I get out there to clean stalls and put out some hay. Once that was done, we raked up the indoor (where we had been feeding hay on rainy days) and I got out our very old Toro to go and drag the ring. It has been in service for well over 20 years and still gets the job done.
Karen rode Angel. She and the others have had quite a vacation, but now we are motivated to get back into gear. I'm going to start line driving Abbe and then Karen will get on her. She has only been sound off and on for a couple of years....at the moment she looks good.
As you can see, it was pretty chilly today. Fortunately the temperature was quite fine inside and stays that way most of the winter.
Even tho Angel has not been ridden for quite some time, she was very cooperative and goes very well in an English hackamore.
Now that I am not so insanely busy, I am going to make a real effort to get off my duff to see what can be done with Abbe and Berlin. I love line driving.
It's interesting, how the weather change gets me into an entirely different mode.
When that fire is roaring and it's cold outside I love to cook and read and watch movies and take naps. We had homemade soup for lunch and after a trip to Wegmans I made a huge batch of vegetarian chili that should be good for many meals. I plan to freeze at least half of it.
Rumor has it that we are going to get some snow tonight. Our shovels have been ready for days.
Went out to feed the girls at 5:05 and it was this dark!
Since the time change, we seem to be eating much earlier. That's fine with me, as I can get my Journal done before it gets too late.
Tonight we had a salad, cornbread
organic corn chips
and chili.
It's almost 8 and I am done....
Night all.
Ah, chili! Whenever snow is predicted I get a hankering for chili! Yours looks yummy. Wish I had some here!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good day. I'm sure Abbe and Berlin will be happy to go back to work. I wonder if sometimes all horses don't get bored doing the same thing everyday.
ReplyDeleteThe chili looks perfect for a cold evening.
Ain't nothing like a freshly dragged arena. I use a lawn tractor to drag mine too. Works great!
ReplyDeleteHello Lori. I must say that your food invariably looks attractive!
ReplyDeleteI love that feeling of wanting to get moving forwards! We are all snowed in here and I just want to sleep and eat soup and not move too much!
ReplyDeleteYum! With subzero wind chills today, I baked zucchini bread and did some indoor work.
ReplyDeleteI was outside this morning in the 'chill' and then again this evening.
I hope you don't want to get a huge snow storm!
