Stuck In An Arctic Rut

What's going on?  Extremely low temperatures all over the place...
Karen and I have been cruising through chores in spite of the cold.

By 9 o'clock the sun was trying to make an appearance so we caught a mental break.

Gary and I managed to go through all the books in the library and ended up piling them in the middle of the room after we ran out of boxes and packed the ones we are giving away.
This beautiful blossom appeared ...it must love all the light.

 Isn't this lovely?

Gary is still painting, and it's almost 7:30.  By this time next week things just might be back to normal.
Seymour had the right idea this afternoon.  All of the cats have been spending much of the day in the house...just going out for potty breaks.
Chores at 5.  The girls were ready for dinner.
 Speaking of dinner,
we had a salad with pears and craisins
 Johnny Cake (corn bread)
Tostitos with a sour cream/red pepper salsa dip
and vegetarian chili.  Yep.  It tasted great.

On the news tonight the weatherman said 7 to 10 more days of this crapola.  We've had it pretty bad, but there are some states that have it even worse.  Stay warm!
Night all.

PS
Yesterday I called my post "Snow Dog" and maybe it should have been "Sun Dog."  Who knows the correct term for it?

  1. Cold here too. Was below zero this morning when I got up. Can't say I remember being this cold for this long. It's getting really old.

Love the picture of Seymour. They know how to take advantage of winter.

  2. I think it is a sun dog. I have a fuzzy recollection of a story about a dog running round the sun, hmmm, might have to try to look that up. It was a fantastic photo.

  3. Cats have very good sense, and to stay inside is so sensible, next thing they will want inside portaloos!!! Sun Dog, a phenomenon ,sounds like you were so lucky to see it. Hope you can all stay warm enough this weekend and the next few days, books, one of my true delights. I, too have given some away the last week or so, carefully sorted, and maybe read again one last time, before they go to another home. Greetings to all, Jean.

  4. That carved bench is exquisite. I don't think I've ever seen a photo of it before.
