R and R

Ended up being a beautiful day.
 In the 30s.

At 11 o'clock I picked up Sally and Judy and we went out for a little adventure.  Oddly enough, we all have the same Doctor and she is moving to a new facility in a nearby town.   So we thought it would be fun to locate the office and then go out to lunch.

There is a new pub in Spencerport called McColley's and it is right on the main drag.  Matt Brooks, the brother of one of Jenny's good friends, is in construction work and put together the interior himself.  It's just a small, intimate place and it has a lot of character.

He has so many good ideas.  For instance, when you order coffee, it comes in a French Press and costs $1.85!  How's that for a good deal.  He purchases his coffee from Java Junction in Brockport (Gary's second home) and the quality is top shelf.

There's a nice little bar that is well stocked with all kinds of specialty beers and more.
The manager is from England and adds a lot of flavor to the place.

There is a small space in the back called the Guinness Room and it can seat 14...perfect for a large group.

The waiting area has seating in church pews.

Now for the bad news....we were so hungry, when the food came I forgot to take pictures....and the it was SO good.  Everything is made from scratch...no deep fried anything.  The menu is limited and is the same for lunch and dinner.  Two soups (Leek and Potato & Manhattan Clam Chowder) Four appetizers (Reuben Fritters, Sweet Potato Wedges, Hummus Trio and Cheese Board) a couple of sandwiches (Chicken Spiedie and Corned Beef Reuben), 3 entrees (Shepherd's Pie, Cider Salmon and Beef and Stout Pot Pie) & their everyday dessert is Maple Bourbon Creme Brulee.  In addition they have a daily special as well as an additional dessert.  They will add a few more items to the menu in the near future...but it will not be like most traditional restaurants.  Unique.
Sally and I got Reubens and split an order of sweet potato wedges... Judy got the Cider Salmon.
Great service, well presented and a nice atmosphere.  They deliver your check in a water glass, where you put your $$$.  So clever.  Kudos to Matt and his Chef.  Spencerport is very fortunate to have this option.  If you are in the neighborhood, I would give it a shot.

The entire afternoon remained bright, but when I got back to the farm I started a fire and plunked myself down in a chair to read....which led to me taking a nap.  I woke up when Gary walked in the door and got ready to do chores.

Tucked the girls in.  They were all filthy and will need more grooming tomorrow.

 Not cooking dinner tonight...still full.

You can't beat having a nice lunch out with friends.  It reminded me of the way Mike and Ann socialize over in England.

Night all.

  3. Lori this was hard for me to read as I am STARVING. But sounds great. Wish I could stop by and check out the restaurant. Sounds great and like they are really trying their best to run a true neighborhood spot.
