Automatic Pilot....

They predicted rain today and we got about 3/4 of an inch.
Until it became torrential, the girls stayed out in the pasture.

At 9 I met Gary down at Sara's, as we are determined to fix up our back yard and need to add some color.

I still grabbed some shots in the rain.  Love this place.

We bought two lavender plants and some other stuff.  Would love to have a violet back yard someday.

Right now it looks so barren and beat up since the gigunda English Walnut tree was cut down.  As pieces of it fell to the ground, huge divots were created and we are finally ready to deal with it.

In the middle of the hardest rain our friend Judy P. stopped up for some tomatoes and leeks.  Then another couple stopped in to buy garlic.  They wondered if they were going to show up on my Journal.  Ta Daaaaaa.

We sent Judy home with a basket of goodies...you could smell the dill a mile away.

Evening chores near 5:30...I have a feeling we are going to have some bad weather later.

Got everything ready before the girls knew I was in the barn....then they figured it out and walked in.
Could not ask for more...they are on automatic pilot and go straight to their own stalls. I'm sure there are horse people out there who think I'm nuts, but I have been doing this for 32 years...even when I had 7 or 8 horses.  They are quick studies and have been very calm about it.

Made a great salad tonight that Saint Andrew would love...don't know if Saint Tim would be up for it (Sara and Auntie Reg would).  Romaine, onion, red pepper, tomato, avacado and gorganzola cheese.
I'm pretty sure Annette and Brett would go for it too.  They eat like kings out there at Oak Creek Ranch.
 Grilled zucchini...
 BBqued organic ribs....
 and some brown rice.

Judy brought me a beautiful bouquet of flowers for my b'day (tomorrow) along with some peaches.
What a thoughtful friend.

Tomorrow I am getting serious about walking everyday.  Let's see if I can stick to it.
Night all.

  1. I used to work in a barn with 30-40 horses, we did the same thing. Got all the stalls ready and then the whole herd would come charging in, each to their own stalls. It was quite a site.

I hope your plants do well. Most things won't grow under a walnut tree as the tree gives off a kind of poison that kills off nearby plants so it won't have any competition. I'm not sure how long it lasts once the tree is gone though. If any of your new plants start looking poorly, don't take it personally:)

  2. If you'd like I can drop Barbie off with you, she'll have you serious about walking in no time! Haha lately we've been walking about 3 miles a day and she never gets tired! Oh the rain looks nice.

  3. Happy Birthday friend! I don't know about Brett, but I would have loved that salad.

  4. They are quick studies, and ours do that too except when Flash decides to mess with everybody and play musical stalls. He knows better, and when I tell him to get back in his stall he does just that. He likes to play games.

  5. Happy Birthday

PS, do you do anything special to your zucchini before you grill it? That is about all that grew in our garden this year.

Gorgeous nursery...I'll have to catch up and see why the walnut was cut down.
