A COOLDOWN...

Oh yes, those beautiful sunrises are back.

The usual morning with the ponies, then I worked on an invitation for an event we want to host at the end of the month.  On September 30th NOFA-NY (Northeast Organic Farmers Association) is trying to get 5000 New Yorkers to participate in a potluck meal where all the food is made from local, organic products.  A "locavore challenge."  You all must have heard of the slow food movement....right?

At noon I made a pear salad, took a shower and we were off to Judy and Randy's for a birthday lunch they were hosting for our friend Louise.
A very healthy and MAJOR feast.

Ya see that bagel on the right?  On top of it was my favorite part of the entire meal...
tomato preserves.  Unbelievable and a perfect solution for our thousands of
cherry tomatoes.
 It was a vegetarian delight!!!!

Lots of desserts in addition to a birthday cake.

 Happy Birthday Louise!

Gary ended up having duty at the Welcome Center...I picked him up at 4:30 and could not wait to get back to the farm.  After a little break I went out to do chores.
I must say, the cooler weather felt great.

Night all.

We are still fairly warm with cool nights here, but Thursday's high is predicted at 50 degrees. Fall is on the way.

  5. Beautiful food!! We're experiencing the second of four expected cooler days, even had a little shower over night to dampen the dust. Feels like fall is just around the corner...I'm welcoming it with welcome arms! We had an abundance of cherry and grape tomatoes too. Last night I made them into a sauce. Tasty!
