HAY MAN!

Barb and I were out in the barn doing chores when a load of hay arrived.
The ponies were out of the way in the big pasture.

It was only a hundred bales and was unloaded in a short time.  Fortunately, I did not have to handle it.
Looked pretty good and smelled great.  1st cutting grass.

This is the first year we have had anything climb up the pergola.  Love it.
Tina, your hibiscus plant is blooming again.

Did a little mowing around the pastures and did not accomplish much else today.  Jenny brought the boys up for the evening and Randy and Arlene came over for a pizza/salad dinner.

Finn was very happy to get back the 4 figures that had been lost here on Thursday.  Brenda found them out in the grass (when she went out to pick spinach last evening).  He wanted me to be sure and thank her....instead he emailed the picture below and took care of it himself.
The temperature dropped this evening.  Actually it must have been pretty comfortable for the horses all day, as they did not drop their usual 50 pounds of manure in the run-in.  They stayed out in the pasture all day.

The daylilies are getting ready to bloom and the stems are nearly 5 feet high!

Gary and Randy figured out how to hang the swing Jen gave us.  It was like working on a puzzle.  We shall see if it survives.  The cats are going to love it.

The boys returned to their games after Randy and Arlene left.

Nana Pat picked up them up on her way to Jen's and all was quiet by 9:45.  So here I am.
Night all.

  1. First cutting, eh? Nothing smells as good as fresh cut hay. You are certainly going to have a ton of daylilies this year. I'm walking around the garden every morning telling mine to "bloom already!"

Sounds like, all in all, you had a very lovely day.

  2. The stems are nearly 5' high??? You'd scoff at my little daylilly. I was inspired by all the beauties I saw on blogs last year, and I planted a token one this spring to see if I could grow them here on the prairie. It's hanging in there - at about 6" tall!
