TAA DAAAAAA!!!!

Check the view as I walked out to the barn this morning....

Seymour disappeared on our way to the barn....but Sidney was game for going in the back pasture when I opened the gate.

Grained the horses and turned them out.

Cleaned the stalls and took a quick shower before going to chorus.

Mary Ellen (our director) said it was our best rehearsal so far.

Made a quick stop at Wegmans...ate lunch and headed over to Renaissance Equestrian Center.  Yesterday at Country Max I ran into one of the boarders (there) and she told me my old dressage teacher was going to be giving lessons today.  As far as I am concerned she was and still is one of the best classical dressage instructors in this part of the country.  She is also a good friend and I had not seen her in ages.

This horse is Sunny.  He belongs to Kit (the woman I ran into yesterday).  As she had business out of town, the trainer/owner of the facility (Dawn) took the lesson today.

He's not a big boy, but has great dressage moves.

Tina will like him...as he and Sandman are quite alike.

Dawn (above) has fostered over 400 cats and kittens...this is one of them.  I don't know how he lost his ear...a sweetheart.

This is Linda (Johnson) Legrand.  I have spoken of her many times...she's the one who spent her summers in Portugal, riding in the school of Nuno Olivera.  She is my age and still going strong with training and lessons.  Believe me, she does not have the mind set of the upper level dressage riders (and judges) who think over bending the horse is acceptable.  There is such a difference when training is done the classical way.

When I got home, Gordy B. was here roto-tilling the gardens...one of which will be turned into grass.

Gar went down to meet Finn and Coop when the school bus arrived, and I went out to get things set up for evening chores.

I had a nice fire going before they arrived.

Finn loves our couch and headed straight for it.
By 5:30 we were eating dinner.  I made meatball sandwiches (homemade).

Finn ate like a lumberjack, and Coop was picky.

When they were finished, Gary started making faces at Coop, and Coop would do whatever Gary did.
Then they switched....and Gary did everything Cooper was doing.

The three of them went over to the Studio while I did chores.  They played Sequence and I could see them dancing.

L'orange showed up.

When I got back in the house, it was time for Mexican Sundaes with peanut butter.

Finn did his homework and then Gary drove them home.  They were both excellent tonight!  And fun!

That's it for now.
Night all.

  1. Another lovely day at Skoog Farm.
Here in Colorado where we get bitter cold weather, you will see neglected horses with ear tips missing from frostbite. Could that have happened to the kitty?

  3. I rescued a cat once that lost part of an ear to frostbite. Likely that is what happen here.

L'orange seems to be making your home her/his home. Pretty cat.

Lovely sunny weather you have. Wish we had it just a little longer, but I am doing my best to embrace the cold and snow.

  5. Another lovely day. I'm so glad that trainers are not falling for that hideous, overbent stuff. Everyone ohhhhs and ahhhhhs over the results, but I sometimes wonder if they're not looking at the Emperor's new clothes.

  7. I know nothing of dressage but can appreciate any sort of training when it is done well.

Love the photos and the visit to your place!

Farm chores are taking up most of my free time!
