Many things to do today....
A little misty when I went out to the barn. Barb was helping me, and chores would have gone quickly...but I had a great visit from Darrin (Winnie's x owner) who returned an old western saddle I had given him. Now that they no longer have a horse, I asked if I could have it back (Indian giver).
Then, my friend Sandy stopped in and we chatted for awhile...in the meantime, Barb was doing all the work. I carried Sid and Seymour out in a big basket today...they jumped out of it. Look at where they went! Up on the pergola, 9 feet in the air.
I had to put a ladder up so they could figure out how to get back down.
Around 11 I headed down to the Morgan Manning House for the annual Peddlers Market.
There were many tables where people could sell their wares...quite a variety!
I wanted to buy this cat bench but could not get the price down and finally gave up. Wanted it for my studio.
Tradition says you have to get a couple of hot dogs with everything (including hot sauce made by Rudy).
You can count on Mary Pat....if there is an event at the Morgan Manning, she is on deck.
I loved this flower booth...you could buy by the stem.
Peggy was working over at the Carriage House...collecting money. Inside, there were tables packed with all kinds of "junque" (as they call it).
Look what I bought for 3 bucks. Just like new. I only have a very large crock pot. This will be perfect when I am not cooking for a crowd...as in soup this winter.
I was very tempted to buy this framed original watercolor, but I don't have any room left to hang anything. Well done.
I left by 1:20, as hay was going to be delivered between 1:30 and 2.
On the way home I passed a 9/11 Memorial in front of Capon Hose (fire department). Richard Kron, a local artist, originally carved these three figures and later they were cast in bronze. Each year they pay respect to those who lost their lives.
Got home just in time....Gary opened up the back door to the barn right when I arrived.
Danny and Dave unloaded 200 bales of scrumptious 2nd cutting (mostly soft grass for my golden oldies).
I don't start feeding it until the grass is shot or it is snowing.
Gucci and Phoebe supervised.
Gar brought home an apple pie from the Peddlers Market...after the hay was all moved into the barn we each had a piece.
He continued to paint the south side of the Indoor and I went over to the Maynard's for their annual tomato fest.
Lots of people and lots of food.
For example....
This year there was a chili contest and some of it was MIGHTY hot!
Grilled portabella mushrooms...
Roasted red peppers with fresh mozarella cheese.
Here is Diane...the hostess who happens to be a fabulous gourmet cook and gardener.
I left around 6:30 with a belly full of grand food.
Fortunately Barb had chore duty.
That's it for now. Hope you are enjoying the Brockport lifestyle.
Night all.

Lori ~ I just love all the pictures. I love linens so your stacks of linens looked so inviting. Also I have that exact crock pot. It's just small enough for my dearest and me. I even wrap potatoes in foil and bake in the crock pot so I don't have to heat the oven.
ReplyDeleteOct.3 we have our Chili Cook Off at our church. The set up looks much like ours. The local Fire Department come and judge the chili for hottest, and then we also have a peoples choice award.
Enjoyed your blog so very much, and so glad Sandy told me about you.
You have so many activities in your community that look so fun. I suppose we have some stuff, too, but I'm still busy with little kids who don't find much pleasure in that sort of thing. Thanks for sharing your day.
