THE BIG FIRST FRIDAY...

Today I did not put the kittens in a carrier when we went out to the barn.
After chores I went to Apple Creek Farm to mow the lawn.
Gary spent most of the day preparing for First Friday at the Alumni House.
Half an hour before it started it rained cats and dogs (an outside event).
This was very special as it was the 175th anniversary for the college.
The Sankofa Drumming Ensemble started things off.
State Senator George Maziarz and Assemblyman Bill Reilich made a presentation to the President of the college.
A menu was carefully prepared by BASC (college food service) that was appropriate for the time the college was founded.
Lobster, an apple dessert, special cookies....
I loved these shredded beet mini tarts.
Even tho it rained, there was a large crowd.  Most were under two tents.
The college colors are green and gold.
Carol and Topper have been very supportive of the First Fridays.
Bill Heyen, a friend and well known poet, presented an original poem for the occasion.
The LaFalce fan club was there.
The Golden Eagle String band performed throughout the event.
We all had a great time regardless of the weather.  Worth all the hard work.

Home in time to do chores.  Of course the sun came out.
The horses were soaked and some of them had rolled in the indoor.
The cold front started to come through...could be down 20 degrees by morning.
There's my dirtiest little piggy.
Wet but happy (and not so hot for a change).
A beautiful skywatch friday evening sky.  Night all.

  1. Sounds like a wonderful celebration.

    Stunning sky shot.

I envy your rain! We are still dry as a bone...the ponds are dropping and the grass has no chance.

  2. Another good day at Skoog Farm.
Is it still taking a long time to upload photos? I don't have that problem, but blogger doesn't always put them where I want them, and then I have a hard time moving them.

  3. I can't believe you're getting down to 20*. Isn't that early?
