IT'S ALL IN THE FAMILY....

(Check out the new habitat I created for the barn froggie....he figured it out in no time).

Up early as I had a lot to do before our nephew Chris and his family arrived for lunch.
Gary helped me, and of course I ended up dripping with sweat. The temperature was not has high as it was yesterday...and rain was on the way.
I spent from 9-10 at Wegmans.
Got home and started cleaning and preparing food for lunch and dinner. That heated the kitchen up to 80 degrees.
In the meantime, the ponies were on the pasture and it got pretty grey to the West.
PHoebe is getting pretty good at relaxing in front of the fan.
This huge equipment started going down the lane. Pea pickers...maybe 5 or 6 of them.

We still have beautiful lillies around the barn.
Around 11:30 our guests arrived and reported that it had been raining in Buffalo. Before too long, it started raining here...just when we went out to see the ponies.
Jenny and the kids came up for lunch. We have not seen Chris for 20 years!!!and it was our first chance to meet his wife Susan and boys Sam and Stewart.
Right when we finished up, the farrier arrived to trim Berlin and Abbe. By then all the horses were soaked and Pony was quivering. I brought her into the grooming room and toweled her off while the other horses were being worked on by John.
The entire crew came out to see what was going on.

The horses were very mellow.

Eventually, Jenny left with Ariana and 3 of the boys and the rest of us drove into Brockport.
Hit a few of the shops...
and I took advantage of a sale on beads for my bracelet.
It was still raining and it felt so good after our heatwave, we did not even care if we got wet.

We stopped off at Jenny's on the way home and Ariana came back to the farm with us.
When I went out to do chores, my assistants picked the paddocks and pasture.
All were occupied.

Chris, Susan and Gar looked at a lot of old photographs.
The pups got a lot of attention.
Then it was time for dinner. Gar grilled out chicken....
We had a fruit salad, green salad...potato salad, and some pilaf for the kids who didn't like the other stuff.
There were many toasts! It was very nice to spend the day together.

After dinner the boys went out to hit a few balls and the rest of us sat on the back porch.
Then it was time for chocolate cake. Out of the blue, Louise said she was making us one from scratch, as she knew I was too busy to put together a dessert. How's that for service?
Just before dark, the sky was brilliant. I had left the horses in at chore time as they were all wet...but it was so beautiful, I let them out again.

They wandered into the indoor, where one of the kids left on the twinkie lights.
The horses loved it.

Back to the house...Barb stopped over and reset up the stalls for me. What a woman!
Then it was time for goodbyes. Grampa and all the cousins.
Chris and Jenny really enjoyed seeing each other after all these years....
Until next time!

Play ball!
Night all!

  1. this was a good day! Do you take the heat better than the winter cold while doing chores for the horses?

  2. How lovely to have your family together.
That photo of the horse standing in the shade of the tree says it all about your heat. I'm glad it's broken.
Love the twinkle lights in your indoor!
