A MORGAN KIND OF DAY....

Before going into the barn this morning, I went out to reconfigure the gates to the pastures. Dream was curious and stuck her head out the back window (again).
It was raining, so I put all the sheets back on. Gary helped me with chores and I was done around 9:30.

The next day we have some sunshine, this weeping crab apple tree is going to pop out all it's blossoms. Today it was barely in the mid 50s.

Late morning, we had some visitors from Queens. How could I not get back into my portrait mode?
Moon....
Star...
Sky....
and of course...Mom and Dad. Dad was one of my art students in the 80s, and we have been in touch ever since.
They were all happy to see Phoebe and Gucci...it had been a full year since their last visit.
We had popcorn and lots of conversation....a little bird watching too.

Time ran out and they had to go see the last Sankofa performance.

The pups and I jumped in the car (still raining) and headed down to Wegmans. The trees were still hanging on to their blossoms.

Got home in time to do a little chatting on the phone before I made a salad to take down to the Morgans for the after Sankofa party.

My little models were there.

It was our pleasure to meet many new people.
There are three brothers in this Morgan family, and we have watched them grow up.

Below are two of the dancers from Sankofa. Clyde and his wife very graciously hold this picnic for them after their last performance.
It's not difficult to tell which three are related....

We really enjoyed speaking to many of the dancers (and other guests). What amazes me, is that you don't have to be a dance major to be part of this African Dance and Drum Ensemble.
Clyde gave special recognition to a friend of his who has a Brazilian Dance Company in New York. They have known each other since he was 17 years old.

And here is the Pied Piper himself! What a following he has....
and I don't know anyone who does more to promote SUNY Brockport. We really had a good time and were honored to have been included. The food never stopped coming...and it was delicious. It was good to spend time with the whole (very talented and warm) family.

When we got home I still had to do chores. It was still raining, but warm enough to take off their filthy sheet. After they got wet, they rolled in the indoor. Yuck.
And this little Dream Boat was the filthiest of all. Her sheet was coated with sand from one end to the other. Can you see it on her neck?
It was almost 8 by the time I went back to the house.
The sky was a different color in every direction.

Time to start some shots in the dark...

A very nice day.

Night all.

  1. Love the shots in the dark and the beautiful trees and of course your photogenic models. The blue of the skies were very distinct tonight. Don't you love it when the horses stick their heads out the windows, I always enjoy that.
