BUSY ALL DAY....

First of all, the temperature was only 35!
The sun was so bright it came through the bedroom window and went all the way out to the library table.
I started putting some plants out on the back porch and they seem to be surviving these cold nights.
Out to do chores at 7:30.
Fed the hay in the back pasture where there was plenty of solar heat.

A lot of work was being done in the fields next to the pasture. I have no clue what they are planting on about 120 acres.
But I can tell you what is going on in our gardens.
By next week we will be able to make my most favorite rhubarb pie.
The garlic is at least a foot and a half tall... Do you see how it is mulched with leaves? Before it was planted, lots of manure was worked into the soil. These conditions are ideal.
Gary has planted over 400 onions...maybe three varieties.
The strawberries are looking strong...let's hope that they produce this year.
Had to put the girls in the yard while I finished cleaning stalls. They tune into every sound and action.

At 10:15 we headed down to Newman Oratory where a service was being held for Jim Savard.
He sang with our chorus until a month ago and passed away earlier in the week.
The Barbershop group (he was part of) opened the service, then the chorus sang "Why We Sing."
It ended with everyone singing "When the Saints Go Marching In." (his request to go out New Orleans style with all of us singing and clapping). He left a beautiful family, and they outdid themselves today.
Afterward, we were invited over to the Morgan Manning house for refreshments.

We got back to the farm around 1:15 and Jenny was there with Cooper and Finn. She was off to meet a friend and we kept them busy.
Grampa gave them each a pair of sunglasses.
Mid afternoon we went down to Abbotts for custard. I had my first frozen banana.
From there we went to the Utica Street playground. There was a darling little girl there who loved Gucci and Phoebe...gave them kisses....
while her dog watched....
Finn and Coop were in arobicville for almost an hour.

We got home a little before 5 and Jenny arrived a few minutes later.
She and Gary talked out by his barn...

and ended up in the front paddock playing basketball (again).

After a quick trip to check out the horses, they left for home so they could get ready to go out to dinner.

Gar and I had a quick dinner before Deb and Tom picked us up to go down to see Sankofa.
A great performance.

Night all.
