THE REST OF THE DAY....

Before I went out this morning, I posted a photo of the yard going back to the barns (post below). It was not very light and my photo turned out with this blueish tint.

35 minutes later, things brightened up.

The snow was wet and very heavy.

By late afternoon...voila! It pretty much disappeared.

Meanwhile (back to morning chores)....the front paddock was like mud soup. Fortunately, many years ago this was a cow farm and that area was all cement. There's about 4 inches of dirt on the top of it, so when it's wet, the horses do not sink down to China. It seems to be taking me longer and longer to finish the stalls, but I will continue to set up everything for the evening except for grain, so that end of the day only takes 10 or 15 minutes.

Of all the horses, Winnie is the one that really likes to roll in the snow.

Today I tried out my new camera....Except for the first photo, those below were taken with the Canon. It is going to take some getting used to. After only having little cameras, this one feels a little bulky (tho it is well designed to fit your hand).

The picture above was taken with my Sony Cyber Shot and the one below was taken with my Canon Power Shot SX20IS. It actually tells me just how good my old digital camera is.

The macro shot below shows the advantage of the Canon. Much more clarity.

Gary left with our friend Randy at noon....a day trip to Jamestown, where they will hit a couple of Swedish shops to pick up baked goods and sil for Christmas.

I started a fire so it would be cozy for my class.

They arrived at 1:30. Phoebe acted normal, but Gucci was very strange. Her tail was down and she would not go to anyone (not even for treats from Tina and Sandy) and stayed by my side. I still don't know what was wrong.

Sandy has finished her pair of pastels and is working on a third.

I was happy to see Tina. She is making a great comeback after the loss of Sunshine and I am very proud of her.

She is working on the drawing below for a Christmas card.

Mel is still working on his colored pencil drawing....

and Connie has started on a watercolor...

The Phoebster took her afternoon nap...while Gucci remained in hiding.

When I went out to do chores, it was not dark yet, but the moon was amazing.

Time for a nice hot shower. Night all. A heat wave is on its way for tomorrow.

  2. I DID read the question Gucci posed to Dr. Porter. The weather is cooler for us but it was 80 today and a low of 65...so Dr. Porter still wants to get out and sniff the grass and check on his neighborhood. His last walk to a small village of shops nearby is at about 10:00. Then he snuggles with his stuffed toys and conks out. (He snores a bit.) He doesn't travel far with us but does want to get out - and the temps are perfect. LOW humidity.

What's up with Gucci? Does she have December winter blues already. tell her Port would share his spot on the backyard porch anytime, but she'd have to being her beach gear and sunglasses. LOL.

Your morning shot, in Lori's BLUE period, was gorgeous. The old Sony was pretty good wasn't it.

Stay warm. Keep posting those wintry farm shots for us Floridians. Porter say HI Guc girl!!

  3. Hi Lori! I'm back in NC now. We are getting ready to move to another rental house in a month. woohooo! The one we are in isn't that nice. The new one is much larger and better quality. A bit more homey too.

I don't know why people even bother trying to post such weird stuff.

  5. Your students are doing well. They have a good teacher. I have a Sony Cyber shot and recently bought a Canon EOS 1000D and at first I thought the Sony point and shoot was just as good but now realise the more I learn about the Canon the better the pics.I hope puppy is OK.

  6. Beautiful photos =) What is wrong with Gucci? Has she hurt her back? Poor baby! I would so love to come and have an art class with you. I've been feeling the yearning to get back to my art table but there has been so much to do that I've not had any time at all...

  7. I have a feeling you are going to be doing quite a bit of playing with your new camera especially on those chilly days you are inside more. Poor Gucci...some days we just have to be left alone. I hope she's happier today.
