STILL ON HIATIS....

A beautiful morning in the 40s...a little steamy.

We did chores and when I got in, spent a long time on the phone.

Gary continued to point up the stonework on the horse barn while I continued to be unproductive.

Though the entire day looked like it was 4:30 and grey, I was able to get the outdoor ring dragged to perfection. That means it's going to rain and get flooded again! It never fails.

Darrin sent me a couple of photos that Trina took at his lesson yesterday. What an improvement! He and Winnie are just right for each other.

And here is a shot from Christina's World. DJ had another visit from his new friend Bright.

I had a couple of visitors around noon...first Marcia brought over 8 pieces of her work for the art show. While she was leaving, Jan C. came over to look at the harness I have for sale. ( In June and August I posted photos of her in two different driving competitions). Who knows, maybe this will fit one of her horses.

Our herd kept their heads down most of the day...I never did ride.

But what I did do....something I have never liked to do.... used up some of those apples I picked to make a pie. Thought I couldn't do this, but it was a piece of cake (I mean pie). I know how to cook, but I hate to bake and don't.

Not only did it look good, it tasted great. Light and delicious.

Trina did chores tonight, so I decided to go pick up a few things at Wegmans around 5:15. Big surprise! Everything was twinky lights, christmas trees and decorations. Last year they did this at the end of October...it really bugs me!!! Talk about overkill.

These last two wild shots were taken as I was leaving the parking lot in the dark. Blurry/arty.

Home. Dinner and a movie. Watched an old Gene Hackman film called "Heist." Pretty good.
I can't believe my state of limbo lasted for two days...feel like a bear during the winter. So that's it.... Night all.

  1. When I looked at your photos I wanted to get on a horse and go around and around the outdoor ring until it was covered in hoof prints. Looks so fun! The pie is beautiful. Funny you cook, no baking. I love to bake, but despise cooking meals.

  2. I too was unproductive today. Except for getting my garlic ready for planting anyway.

  4. Lori, what a wonderful post and that pie looks wonderful. I learned when I came to the islands not only was it gray and dark and wet during the winter but also the days are very, very short(about six hours of day light by December). So rather than fighting it I roll with the urge to hibernate...reduce my eating, get done what has to be done, get some exercise and if the urge is to go to bed when it gets dark so be it!
And I don't feel guilty about it! Thanks for stopping by.

  5. Before and after pictures of what appears to be the perfect pie, Lori. Cheers, Mike.
P.s.Most Septembers we go out and pick a few blackberries - blackberry and apple pie is a great favourite of ours. Cheers, Mike and Ann.
