#2006 - BACK TO WORK

I thought about Abbe and driving a lot last night...

The advise given to me...go slowly, take a step backwards.... I'm weakening.

Chores went smoothly this morning. When I finished, I dragged the indoor and gathered the stones I have been picking up (they appeared after it was rototilled).

I put them under the faucet where I fill the water buckets.

Check out that outdoor arena...the water is taking it's good old time disappearing.

I have a feeling I'm going to have a hard time giving up working with this cart that I love.

Next job...picking up walnuts. We have several English Walnut trees and this is a big year. There are hundreds of them on the ground and I don't want to run over them with the lawnmower. So, I picked some of them up and raked the rest under the trees.

When walnuts fall to the ground they are encased in a green shell which eventually gets soft and black. That falls off and there you have it... an end product just like you buy at the store. Several of them landed in the swing.

On to mowing the lawn. It looks so much better.

Looking through the bamboo.

Little red berries in the flower beds.

Gucci and Phoebe don't like it when I mow the lawn, so they hung out in the yard. I didn't get in the house until 11:45, but I accomplished a lot.

After lunch I headed into Brockport to run a couple of errands.

I could not find what I needed at Wegmans and had to go to the other end of town to another grocery store.

ROAD CLOSED here...DETOUR there. I had to zig and zag down so many streets...it took FOREVER!
But now you get to see what I saw.

When I got back to the Farm I made some butternut squash and pear soup, then it was back out for chores. While I was picking the pasture... the sky started screaming at me again. By 7 the horses were in and I finished up dinner. That's it...I quit. Night all.

  1. Then don't give up!! You can do this!! You're an AmeriCAN, not an AmeriCAN'T!! You love the cart, the pony, the harness and driving. Keep it up. Eventually, you and Abbe will get the confidence you need together. And you have excellent help with Andrea. And don't forget to breath! And smile! This is supposed to be fun. LOL

  2. Looks like a pretty cool day except for the closed road and zigzag! These are some really awesome pictures. A nice way to explay the day!

And no, I don't want you to stop with the cart either!

  4. Don't give up yet, things will work out if you just give it time.

  5. Another very productive and busy day for you. Cute expressions on Phoebe and Gucci. You can tell that they are concerned about the lawn mower. Our dog, Maggie, won't even stay in the yard when we mow, she has to be let in the house. Awful noisy things, those motorized grass eaters!

  6. Lori, I love your blog so much! Beautiful photos always. The music is also beautiful.

  7. As the yard's being mowed the dogs could always hit the beach for a couple of hours of Florida sun 'n fun with Dr. Porter.

The ring might still be good for an ice rink at the rate it's drying out.

  9. Not sure what to tell you about the driving as I have only driven experienced horses and never tried to start one myself. I don't think you should give up on it though. Maybe you line drive when you are on your own and hook up the cart when Andrea is there to guide you? Do what you are comfortable with so you don't get discouraged and so you don't get nervous and have Abbe pick up on that. Like I said, not sure if I'm giving good advice, but that's what I've done when I've felt like I'm in over my head.
