BACK IN THE OLD GROOVE...WHERE DO I BEGIN???

Up and at 'um early.  I just can't sleep when the sun is up.  After chores, I met Gary down at the Sweden Town Park to watch Finn play his first game (are you serious?  he is just 5).

Look at that stance.

Grampa had no boys, so having a grandson play ball is a new experience.
Everyone got to hit and they change positions in the field each inning.  Seems fair to me.
Coop preferred making a stone castle under the bleachers.
I have never watched such young people playing ball.  Focus is important and should develop with more experience.  (Many years ago, I managed a Men's Slow Pitch Softball team...the only woman...did it for years.  I'll have to write about it sometime).
When it was all over, Coop was ready to check things out.

Meanwhile back at the ranch, Justine and Darrin Picked up Winnie and took her to a local horse show.  Here they are now.
Right after the game, I drove over to Apple Creek Farm to mow their lawn.  It was the first chance I had to do it.  Jack and Louise invited us out to dinner so after watching the Preakness (the filly ran a good race) we picked them up and drove over to the Greece Family Restaurant.  We have never been disappointed there.  Afterward we went back to their house for dessert.  All of these photos were shot at their place.

In between mowing and dinner, the dogs and I went out to Glen Darach Farm to catch Abbe's training session.  Today, the full harness.

I took out a bale of Abbe's favorite hay and some rhubarb for Andrea, so I parked by the barn.
Look who is checking out the action.
This is the very used cart I hope to buy for her.  It fits well.
Then it was time to get to the real business of the day.  The shafts were put through the tugs, but were not attached.  Yesterday was her first time doing this and she was a little anxious. Today she was much more relaxed about it.
Andrea bred Abbe, backed her and is now training her to drive.  She is an exceptional trainer and has a great relationship with this pony....I hope (when she gets going well) that there will be an opportunity for them to show off this accomplishment.
All done for the day and I could not be happier.  Check out the video below and you will see the progress made since I posted a video a couple of days ago.

...and here she is...

  1. Hi Lori... great pictures and thanks for sharing us your world. I'm from Malaysia and our lives here are totally different. To start off with... only a very handful can afford to own a herd of horses. Mostly, they are breed for horse racing or for "jumping" competition. :)

Will continue to visit your blog to see more of Western NY community.
