A NEW DAY....

The temperature is supposed to get to the low 40s today, and as you can see, the sky is very grey.
It took me forever to do chores.  Getting a new horse is an adjustment...fortunately Winnie is sweet and very adaptable. She has not shown any signs of anxiety and is eating and drinking like a champ.  Masterpiece is still trying to keep the other horses away from her, even if it means getting soaked (standing by her run in).  This afternoon it started to rain and quickly turned into big snowflakes.  Gayle (Alaska) asked me about beet pulp and hay cubes.  Because my horses, except for Abbe, are aged (31, 29, 28, 25, 23 and 10) they have different needs.  My oldest pony ends up wadding her hay, so she needs hay cubes.  Other horses are not able to make the best use of what they are fed and need some extras.  Each one has a different "formula."  All get Vitamin E and Selinium, all get beet pulp, one gets bran, 3 get Devils Claw...some get all of the above.  I have enough apples from Apple Creek Farm for the next month or so.  They all wear blankets and have the ability to go in the indoor, under a shed roof, or in a run in when the weather gets bad (as they are outside everyday).  Currently, they go in around dark.  Yes, they are all loved and spoiled.
