DJ AND PHOEBE'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE...

I got up early today so I could finish chores, shower and be out of the house by 8:20am. Phoebe and I were supposed to pick up Tina and DJ around 8:30 so we could go over to the 37th Annual
Walnut Hill Carriage Driving Competition (we were 10 minutes late).  Competitors come from all over the United States and Canada to compete in this show.  Talk about finery!  The horses and people are very well turned out.
First, we drove into Mendon Ponds Park to find a good place to watch the Pleasure Drive and take some photos.  The dogs were perfect and enjoyed the view.  Many other people had their dogs with them too.  When that was over, we went to the show grounds and the first thing we did was eat lunch.  I was starving and the food was outstanding (a Santa Fe veggie wrap...ummmmm).  Phoebe and DJ were loving the smell of grilled hot dogs.

This is the last day of the show, so they give out all the big awards.  As you read on, you will see that one of our local competitors (and President of our Driving Club) won a top prize with a top horse.
If you are ever in this area in August, this is one of the best horse events in the United States.

  1. This is great (especially since it includes pics of DJ who is approaching demi-god status).

The horses are beautiful! I always wonder: how they feel about pulling the carts and carriages?

I'd forgotten about your love of hats! The black and white ones are something.

    Bagpipes! Yea!
