The Dirty Blanket Contest

Not quite as bad today as the wind eventually died down.  What a difference....the temperature in the barn was 25 tonight.

Jenny got up at 4am and drove Ariana to the airport for an early flight to Las Vegas.  She made it home safe and sound.  We sure had a good time while she was here!

This is what it looked like before I went out for chores.  Wish it had lasted all day.

The sunshine sure helped my brain!

Below, I was looking through Rebel's windows.

He ended up behind the grooming room....
and Buddy chose sunshine and the front paddock.  Aren't their blankets lovely?  If they can't find mud to roll in they sleep on their manure....especially Buddy.

It took awhile, but a new blossom finally arrived.

I made paninis for lunch and we watched the Bill's game.
They played the Patriots and lost.  I was surprised, but both teams were not playing their first string (to save them for the playoffs with no injuries) and whatever was going to happen....happened.  The Bills are 13 and 4.  The Patriots 4 and 13.
We had some bananas that were ready to take a hike so I made some banana bread loaded with walnuts.
Chores at 5.  Much darker than yesterday and no eerie light.

I am not making dinner.  It's every man for himself.
Night all.

Feels Like 4 Degrees Tonight

It's the wind that gets me.

Mid morning I ran a couple of errands and this afternoon Ariana stopped up.  Her flight time for tonight was changed 3 times and now she is leaving very early tomorrow morning.  Guess we shall see about that.  We had a very nice afternoon by the fire.

Chores a little after five.

I could go for some sunshine tomorrow.
Night all.

The Night Before

Yikes!  The Polar Express has arrived.  Tonight, 28 degrees, felt like 9.

This morning I put hay in the front paddock and hay nets behind the grooming room so the boys could get out of the wind.

Out to the pasture....but of course!

Needless to say, it was a good day to hang out by the fire.

Around 1:30 Ariana and Finn came up to work on some legacy books they got us for Christmas.  They heard lots of stories and Finn took a good look at Grampa's yearbook from 1961.

Ariana started working on a scrapbook of photos from her first trip in 2025.  She is definately the busiest traveler in our family.
Chores at 5.  Earlier we had a snow squall and it looked like a blizzard.  Too bad I did not get any pictures.  You could not see the barns from the house.
It was ugly out there.

The barn temperature was around 28.
Meanwhile back in the house...Seymour was taking advantage of the fire,.

He ended up snuggling next to Finn and did not move for a good hour.

We decided to go down to 58 Main for dinner (Grampa's treat) with Ariana, Finn, Jenny and Scott.  No cooking tonight sounded good.  (Cooper was still at Bristol skiing).  We had wings, wraps, ribs and a burger.  All of it was very good with a big side of chatter.  A little bon voyage before Ariana leaves tomorrow.

Back home by 8 and ready to head back out to the fire.
Night all.
