Corn Chowder 101

Much milder this morning and the sunrise was spectacular.

At 7 it looked like this.

By 7:30 the colors were more vibrant.

After chores Little Wonder and I went out to the indoor to work on the footing.

I gathered all the ingredients and started making Corn Chowder when we got back in the house.

Here is the recipe and per usual I did not follow it.  Used a very large onion, added a diced carrot, put in extra potatoes, 2 cans of corn plus 2 cans of creamed corn, 4+ cups of broth and milk instead of half and half.  Did not have thyme, but did have fresh chives from what's left of the garden.

Also added a couple tablespoons of roasted red peppers.

After that, I removed myself from the kitchen as BIG ASH was cleaning out the chimney for our wood stove.

It sprinkled a little just before I went out for evening chores and like the rest of the day it was very grey and around 60 degrees.

Dinner was delicious.

No Excuses..

Whoa!  28 degrees this morning!

After chores I drove down to the Farm Market to see if I could find some apples for us and seconds for the ponies.  Stopped at Wegmans on the way home and at 11, met Janet in the 

Grooming Room so we could go for another ride.

Seamus watched, but kept his distance.

Rebel did not want to be caught....

and kept moving away from me.

Janet finally tricked him with a carrot.

This time we managed to get in the indoor without Seamus.  He was pretty ok with watching us through the gates.

Ronin was a very good boy....

and Rebel was definately not into it.

Very cooperative, but in s.l.o.w.

After being turned back out, he was in his usual groove.

Little Wonder and I attempted to take a nap, 

but Jenny stopped in and we had a nice chat instead.

Gary picked some fresh flowers for the kitchen table.

The ponies were tucked in around 6.  They are always waiting for us.

Leftovers for dinner.

Looking forward to hanging out by the fire to watch the Bills/Packers game tonight.
