It Took All Day For The Sunshine To Arrive

It was a little foggy this morning and very damp from all the rain we have had over the past week.  The horses had their sheets on until it was time for evening chores.

Once again, the water in the big pasture receded by half.

So much mud.

Almost all the leaves have changed color now and the ground is getting covered.
Tomorrow....November 1st and we still have tons of flowers.

After lunch I started a fire in the kitchen and
actually watched the entire Bill's football game.  Jenny, Scott, Finn, Coop and Ariana were there.  Fortunately it stopped raining and the Bills beat Miami.
My buddy kept me company.
As per usual, the sun came out in full force an hour before it was going to set.

There was good light all over the place.

I had evening chore duty.  The ponies were happy to get their sheets off and the barn was very comfortable.

Dinner was delicious.  Leftover chicken and gravy on toast, carrots from our garden, cranberry orange relish and a little salad from last night's dinner.
Now, we are going to get serious about some snoozing....
Night all.

Dinner With A Side of Mexican Train.....

Yuck!  We got a lot more rain last night and the pasture is flooded again.  The temperature was in the high 40s so we ended up putting sheets on the horses as it was raining off and on.

Gary picked some carrots for me and pulled out all the pepper plants.
Company for dinner and I decided to make pumpkin pie for dessert.
Just happened to have a big pie pumpkin.
While it was baking I did a few things around the house.  Another hibiscus blossom....
and Gary picked some flowers for the dining room table.
Got the table set....
and then went out to put sheets on Rebel and Berlin.  Elliott started running around so there was a lack of cooperation.  It took me 10 minutes to get Berlin to stop trotting! away from me.

Eventually Karen and I both got the sheets on our horses and they continued eating grass.

All of a sudden the leaves are changing color.  Wonder if all this rain made a difference.
When I got back in the house I had to make a quick trip to Wegmans, then I was ready to start on the pie.

While that was baking in the oven I made the chicken
and gravy....
with peas.
The pie turned out well.
Of course I had chore duty.

Jen,, Scott, Finn, Coop and Ariana arrived at 6:30, just in time to eat.
I love cranberry/orange relish with this meal....
and mashed potatoes.
Jenny made biscuits.
The salad...romaine, apples, pears, onion, craisins and candied walnuts.

A real farm supper.

After dessert we played Mexican Train.  Scott won and I was the big loser!!!!
Such a fun game.  Loved having Finn home for the weekend.

All cleaned up, it's late and I'm ready to go to bed!

Night all.
