"Sweet Home, Chicago"

It was home on the range today.
Did not go anywhere.
At 9 our first load of hay was delivered...just 50 bales.  I only took 15 of them as I
need 2nd cutting grass for Berlin (and of course all the horses love that).

After chores I mowed the yellow lawn.  When I got to the lane, all the girls were in the outdoor arena looking for grass and a place to roll.

Very soon, we are going to have hundreds of day lily blossoms.  We have actually gotten rid of more than we have left....they spread like crazy.

Gary spent most of the day working on the gardens...
weeding, edging or watering veggies and newly planted flowers.
We took a lunch break and enjoyed BLTs loaded with spinach from our garden.
Today an article came out in the Suburban News, with info about our upcoming
community get-together at The Center.
Thank you Doug Hickerson for doing such a great job.

This afternoon Gary started pulling out the garlic.  It looks great.

Around 6 I walked into the kitchen and Gary was watching "The Blues Brothers."
I love it for it's cast and the music, but boy....the acting was another story.
As many of you know, John Belushi is my cousin and his Blues Brothers albums are
my favorites.  He and Dan A. had some very dorky but hilarious moments.
I had to go out and do evening chores just when Aretha was singing "Think."
What a spectacular evening.  Coolish and no humidity.

I can't remember when our lawn ever looked like this!
Not too much rain in the forecast.

Dinner was a piece of cake.  Judy sent us home with rice and ribs last night so all I had to do was make a salad.  Spinach, the last of our strawberries, kiwi, some feta cheese and poppy seed dressing. What's not to like?
We had dinner "theater" and continued to watch the movie.

Seeing that John was from Chicago (a small town near the city) this song just had to be in it.
Night all.

Looks like a nice day. Everything is growing and looks great. I loved John Belushi he was so talented. Loved how he used to raise that eyebrow. Really liked that movie too and the music. We used to watch SNL and the original cast was the best.

The music from the movie Blue Brother's is still some of my favorite stuff. Our weather is changing today to hot and humid with severe weather this evening.
Love your gardens.
