A Marathon Day That Ended With Our Art Opening

No wind this morning!  So much nicer.

After chores I went out to the front yard and loaded 6 wheel barrows of black wall nuts by the time Gary got home from Java.
He finished things up as I decided to go down to the Farm Market to do a little campaign work.
Before I left, took this picture of some mushrooms growing on a stump...the sun was hitting them just right.
At noon Mary and I went out to do more knocking on doors.

From there, I went over to A Different Path Gallery

to drop off some glads and other things we needed for the opening tonight.

On Sunday afternoons, from 1-3 people gather in the gallery for open jam sessions.
Of course I had to sit down and listen for about half an hour.

If I ever have a spare minute I want to take my guitar down there and see if I can learn something!

I had one more stop to make before going home.
There was a quilt show at The Center and I wanted to do a photo shoot.
Here are a few examples (there were 70 and I took photos of every single one).
The quilt below was made on one of these classic machines!

One of the displays upstairs was....

This is catching on like crazy.  Now a woman from Owego (who heard about it) has made all the dresses in this photo.
When these are shipped, they include the dress, a hand made doll and a pair of underpants for each girl. Imagine what a thrill it is for these kids to receive them.
Currently we are working arrangements to send some to Haiti
via a friend of ours who volunteers there.
I went home and mowed the lawn until 5:30.  Took a shower and got to the Gallery a little after 6.
Before everyone arrived, I took a photo of every piece in the show.  Pardon the glare in some of the shots (reflections in glass).
They are grouped as a body of work by the individual artists.
These paintings are by Len.

Sandy is into drawing with ebony pencils and sometimes adds a little color.

Tina does a lot of work with colored pencils.

Donna created a mini-portfolio of her work over the past few years.
The next four pieces are hers....colored pencil, water colors, ebony pencil and mixed media.

Brenda is one of our guest artists.  She started working with me in 2002 and has
since exploded into the water color scene.  This is what happens when you have a
studio in your house and paint every single day.  She has taken many workshops
from watercolorists and has shown all over the country.

Shamra loves animals, birds and pastel pencils.

Helen works in pencil and has a real flair for softness.

The giraffe was done in pen and ink.

Deborah was with us for most of the summer and at age 16, has a real handle on colored pencils.
Behind the glads is a beautiful piece by Pam.
This is another painting of hers (sorry for the glare).
Al is Brenda's husband and a world class carver.  I love to invite him as a guest artist because
the people in this community can't wait to see what he is doing.  Again, he shares that studio
with Brenda and never stops working.

LuAnne's specialty is collage.  She also loves anything "moon."
This is her latest coffee table.

We always have great goodies.  Wine, cider, lemonade, grapes, apples, nuts, dried fruit,
cheese and crackers....and chocolate candy.

Helen and Mel were the first to arrive and by 7:45 it was standing room only.

Here they are!  Such a great crew.
Thanks to all the artists who participated and those who joined us at the opening.
If you made it through this post, you have real staying power.  Thank you!
Night all.

You certainly have some very talented artists! I really like all of their works. The carvings are beautiful too. I'm sure the show was a huge success.
